So I'm rather glad that my last thread bombed as hard as it did, it means that I can move on to something that I actually want to talk about. What are things from games that were unimportant or mostly unimportant that you thought were neat nonetheless. Mine comes from Dragon's Dogma. If you leave your character alone for a bit without pausing the game, your pawns would step in front of the Arisen and start waving their hand in his/her face trying to get their attention. The game also had something that was mostly unimportant that I found cool. The first time my pawns encountered geosaurians, my main pawn cried out, " It stands to reason that their tails are vulnerable as well," using knowledge from past encounters with saurians to fight these new ones. So lets hear it!

"Who needs a map?!"

-Ezreal

I love that line so much, it's the way he says it... I don't even own Ezreal!

I'm not sure if movement/attack lines in League are considered that important but they are to me! Especially the taunts, laughs, jokes and dances. It's why I despise playing Veigar, besides the fact that i'm not that good with him. Whoever decided on his voice needs to be shot.

I love all of Leona's lines as well. They're all the words of someone who's about to charge into battle without a moment of hesitation. You know, the way Leona is best played?

"Stay at the vanguard!"

"They'll have to get through me..."

"I will protect you!"

I just like how the lines really fit into the character and the optimum playstyle for said character.

I really like Irelia's mundane as hell "This way!" it's just so brisk and commanding...

Boiling water in Skyrim.

Totally useless, but a fun inclusion regardless.

Just head on over to the little decorative ring of water in the square of Whiterun.

Aim your "Flames" spell towards it and the water will bubble.

Edited post to keep from being quoted asking how to do it.

Y'know the gunships in Half Life 2 and the Episodes?

They have rotors made of giant dragonfly wings.

I thought that was cool.

In Alan Wake, if you run into a wall, you stop and stand still, rather than staying in your running animation. I liked that.

Being able to see other portions of a world from a certain level, like in Super Mario Sunshine. I liked to climb high up and see what levels I could see around the island from where I was.

The stair-stumbling animations in GTAIV. I once spent over an hour just standing at the top of a large set of stone steps and knocking NPCs down them.

In Dark Messiah of Might and Magic you can cast an ice spell at the ground, and freeze it, making enemies slip, slide, and fall. This is something I'm always disaoppointed is in no other games, it would've been great in Skyrim. I remember casting it right around a corner on a sheer cliff and watching as an angry band of orcs all came around the corner after me and slipped off the cliff one after the other.

Stats pages.

I love when a game meticulously records all manner of weird stats from my adventure.
This, GTA had this in one of the Stories spin offs, it was pretty cool. Also the wobble animation in SSBM was nice.

The npc dialogue in some games is amazing. Especially when they do fourth wall breaks and the only thing you can do is just sit back and laugh. My most recent encounter was in GW2.

There was a place behind some foliage in the first level of Halo 3's campaign where you could find a hobo clutching a teddy bear.

I like it when game developers decide to portray character's personalities through their stats. I don't just mean that the big burly guy has high strength and the magic user has high spirit etc.

But little superfluous details like in Persona 4 Yosuke is probably the character who has the worst luck in the game. And in the dungeon portions, he's the party member with the lowest luck stat.

Just little things like that kind of make me smile.

Really doesn't matter what game it is just when my companion/friend/ball-and-chain say something funny in or out of combat, Dragon Age 2 (Despite all of it's flaws) did this the best in my opinion

I loved how int he old sega genesis bubsy game if you stood still for a bit, bubsy would try and catch your attention, eventually culminating in him knocking on the inside of the screen and it shaking as a result, i thought that was really neat

Little environmental or graphical effects that really aren't necessary but you end up really appreciating.

Like how in Metroid Prime if you pass through a steam vent Samus's visor will fog up or if you're in a rainy environment you'll see little rain drops run down it. Or maybe some Space Pirate blood splotches onto it if you're close to them when you kill them.

The biggest one though is when an explosion goes off really close to you and you see her reflection in the visor! Seeing that never gets old. It disappoints me that they removed these effects in the Metroid Prime Trilogy re-release for the Wii.
