So I got my results and I managed to get my degree. It was really close for a while, and I came close to droping out when I found a problem with my dissertation but I managed to pull it off.

So the purpose of this thred is twofold. 1. I am a nosey bastard and I want to know how other people did and 2. this thred gives me the chance to thank eveyone from the Escapist who helped me out by completing my questionaire.

Congrats!

Edit: Actually, that sounds like I'm being a smug twat, I did well.

I'm just really glad to finally be working in something I studied for, hopefully I never have to go back to university now. Unless I decide to get a PhD when I'm having a mid-life crisis in my forties or something.

HUGE congratulations to you! :D

I graduated with a 4.0 in psychology. I also earned summa cum laude, which the University of Colorado's psych program doesn't award unless you do an honors thesis.

My thesis was a factor analysis of the BDI-II, comparing the factor loading of postpartum depression with that of major depressive disorder (which is the subject of almost all BDI research). We tested mothers at four months postpartum and again at twelve months. The results of the study could help clinicians identify postpartum depression at its earlier stages because other research indicated that infants whose mothers were depressed for over six to eight months suffer from impaired learning and are likely to develop insecure attachment patterns.

The results showed a qualitative difference between postpartum depression and major depressive disorder, as well as differences in factor loading between four and twelve months (in mothers who suffered prolonged depression, that is). At four months, somatic factors played a large role, which was expected considering the demands of a newborn. At twelve months, depression was more cognitive, especially in feelings of inadequacy.

Oh... and I got my first bachelors in film, graduating with a 3.8. ;)

Well done, squire. I don't go to university or plan on doing so, can't be arsed. Congratulations, everyone. For those that didn't get their desired results, I suppose there's always bounty hunting as a profession. You might even get a TV show.

Congrats! Funny this thread should come up today, I just returned from an exam myself. I already have a degree, and I'm going for my second and final degree in December. One more exam (plus thesis) to go!

I've started terribly. They wanted to kick me out of my bachelors. I've done all the work. I won't get a chance in a masters, but I don't mind. I just want my damn bachelor done. It's been way too much of a hassle for all those years.

I'm glad that you're doing well. I was supposed to finally get my degree last year, but I quitted my internship and fell extremely sick. I'm going back again this year with a better chance.

I graduated with a 2:1 degree this summer, and did really well in my final year, averaging a first & getting the second highest mark in the year for my research project. It almost makes me wish that I hadn't spent the entirety of my first and second years getting drunk & cramming during revision periods, but I'm happy enough with what I've got.

One thing that really annoys me is that everyone else who graduated appears to be going on a second gap year and posting awesome photos on facebook, whereas I'm stuck in an office writing code all day...I guess it's alright if you have the money lying around.

I finished my first year of aerospace engineering with a 2:1. Probably could have been higher if I had put more work into my January exams, but hey.

I sadly only ended up with a 2.2 :(

However the degree is a Masters degree in Chemsitry from a top 15 UK university so that's pretty decent overall.

I just finished my first year but I got a solid first which was nice considering I fluffed up my A levels due to lack of study. University really did change how I go about working toward exams, definitely for the better.

Managed to get a first in my BSc Games Programming degree. And even more importantly, managed to get a good job that started before I even graduated, so very happy :)

I have a Master's in Architecture. I wasted six years of my life for that degree and the hollow title it comes with. 2 years after graduating, I'm in the beginning of my third (and hopefully first successful) career path- as an SAP developer. For now, I'm doing better than a lot of people that started at the same time, even though I lack previous programming experience.

All I've got right now is an Associates of Science in General Studies (somewhat equivalent to a Burger King coupon in today's job market), but I plan to go back to school soon as I have the job/housing/in-state tuition situation adequately sorted. I did do fairly well though, averaged a 3.80 GPA and got all the general stuff out of way so I can dedicate the next two years to actually getting a degree that's worth something.

Congrats to all.

I actually work at a University so I know the hard work, and hard times students go through.
I look after applications and understand how difficult it is just to apply, and how much it sucks when you get a no.

Anyone want advice about applying for postgrad course, PM me, I'm happy to share my knowledge

I graduated with a 2:1 in Physics this summer. Got rejected for all my phD applications though :(. So now I have an infinite of free time I'm spamming job and phd applications. Hope to get the latter, I really like working in an academic environment, but I gotta pay for internet somehow so if I get a job I'll go for it.

Got a 2:1 in media arts. Being the hyper self critic that I am, I probably won't feel real proud of it until it gets me somewhere, but y'know. Now I just need to deal with the damn graduation ceremony...

Got my Bachelor of Arts, didn't have a particularly impressive average at 69%, but considering how much I disliked my program I guess its not that bad. I especially hated the 4th year courses, which is why I didn't get the honours designation. I guess I could go back and try to do it, but is there any point other than a sense of completion since I disliked the material?

The real question is what to do now. At 24, do I do some more school for something that is hopefully more enjoyable / useful, or do I plunge headfirst into the real world and try to work?

I'm nearly done with my Masters in Renewable Energy and will be very happy when I finish. This summer project has possibly been the most challenging experience of my life and has definitely made me decide that I don't want to go any further into academia (all this pressure to be the first to release academic papers on particular topics and not have it torn apart is frankly something I couldn't care less about). This was something I suspected might happen anyway, hence why I chose a more real-world based Masters to give me a broader set of skills than I had at the end of my undergrad degree (which was in Theoretical Physics).

I'm looking forward to sending off some more applications once I hand this project in. Fortunately, a lot of decent stuff seems to start cropping up in September/October time.
