Nintendo. They actually keep up consistent quality and care for their IPs and their fans. They have more IPs than the Escapist is willing to acknowledge, and have a variety of genres to choose from. Even the best of other companies usually only excel in one genre and almost make that kind exclusively. For all the bashing people give Nintendo, they do offer plenty of variety. The Escapist is just too busy going "GIMMICK GIMMICK GIMMICK!"
Assassin's Creed. It's one of the best franchises to come out in this generation. Yes, the plot with Desmond is very lacking, but the overall Templar conspiracy is actually pretty damn good (and kinda creepy). And the stories in the past are also pretty strong. Combine that with solid gameplay that improves with each game, and one of the most fun multiplayer experiences in a while, and you got a great series.
As far as Anime goes, I'm a fanboy of One Piece. Surprisingly well thought out in certain aspects, doesn't take itself too seriously, actively avoids the tired "fight, training, fight, training" formula of Shonen anime, a great variety of skills and special abilities used in unique and interesting ways, good characters both heroes and villains, and overall always fun to read or watch.
I'm a massive comic book fanboy. I just love the idea of a story that just keeps going, with various twists and turns along the way, never knowing what might happen next. I love the fake science, the strange costumes, the elaborate backstories, the interactions among characters, and just all manner of superheroes.
