OT: People have mentioned some zelda games and to me it looks like they do this a lot because in legend of ages/seasons to get the best sword and shield as well as a few extra items you had to swap saves into the other game.

Yeah, similarly when you got things by connecting your GBA to the gamecube. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is only 4 player if you attach 4 bloody GBAs!

Thinking on this I definitely say the preorder unlockables. It would be bad if most games did it and when you got it you learned it sucked. Plus I live in a city that has no Gamestop, the biggest thing we have are the normal franchises you see if your city or town is big enough.

I dont mind bonuses to come from buying extra stuff, so long as it's like Blizzard do with WOW, and you only get stuff that's for show, new hats, pets, silly gadgets, etc, nothing that really gives an advantage over your fellow players.

The moment that line is crossed however, you're in the territory of rich players beating poor players. I don't like the idea of being able to 'buy' your way to success, it's bad enough in the real life without destroying our fantasy worlds too!

One of the good things about WOW, is that all the top level gear can't be bought with gold, has to be won from dungeons with teamwork, so even if you throw your money at gold sellers like a dummy, you're not going to outclass a good player.
