Is anyone else ever weirded out when someone says "My fellow escapists"? It makes you sound like a politician...and then I don't trust you.

Anyway, I don't ever call a game bad (unless it's name is Fable 2). There are the games I like and the games I don't like.

Call of Duty. WAIT! I just mean the single player, and only all of them except C.O.D. 4. Yes I mean it. No I doubt you can change my mind, because well, they were just war games I have seen it all/felt it all before. Sorry :). (That last bit is because I am british, therefore I naturally apologise for everything, sorry)

Eh. The thing I didn't like about Bioshock 2 was that Lamb just felt so... Pathetic, really, compared to Ryan. I mean seriously - he built an entire city based on his ideals, and yes it failed, but to be able to do something that monumental shows just how visionary and powerful a character he is.

Whereas Lamb? She took over the dead shell of a city. A crumbling, ruined city, built by someone else, founded on ideals in total opposition to hers. What skill does that take? She didn't build anything. To use Ryan's terms, she is a parasite of the highest order, unable to make anything for herself, only able to scavenge off what is already there. I mean, even the vending machines still say 'Ryan Industries' on. She didn't even tear down the Objectivist posters - just put the odd scribbling about 'Rapture will be reborn!'.

That is my main problem with Bioshock 2. Ryan was the best thing about the first game, and an integral part of its story; whereas in Bioshock 2 we have Lamb, who took over someone else's destroyed city and didn't even do a very good job of fixing it up, and just feels completely at odds with the setting, rather than a part of it.

As for my unpopular opinions? Basically, this:

Also that, while the pacing of the story and the overall scale was sadly rushed thanks to EA, Brutal Legend was fucking awesome. It made RTSes fun on consoles by not trying to be a watered down Starcraft with shittier controls. It really doesn't deserve to be another Cult Classic for Double Fine to add to the pile.
The problem with Brutal Legend was not that it was badly designed, or that it had random mechanics and genres thrown in without any consideration as to how they'd fit together. On the contrary, its mechanics are very well designed, and a lot of time and thought has been put into making the gameplay of the stage battles fluid and fun, and that is an undisputable fact.

No, the issue is that people didn't realize the semi-RTS aspects would be there due to EA refusing to talk about them in the marketing, in favour of making a huge deal about how Jack Black was involved; and the fact that Double Fine seemingly underestimated how difficult it would be for players to adapt to a new style of gameplay that they'd probably never seen before. However, once you get your head around how these battles work, and get over the initial spike on the difficulty curve, these battles are extremely enjoyable - that's how I found it, anyway.

How do I react to people with an opposing opinion? Generally by asking them how they played the stage battles in question. Because the game doesn't do a particularly good job of explaining how to play them successfully - I know this first hand because I sucked at them at first too.

If, like I did at first, they played them like a traditional RTS, flying in the air constantly and ordering troops around, but doing nothing else - ignoring the massive axe in their hand, the solos they'd collected, and the team-up attacks the game had spent so long hammering into them - I tell them that I was in the same situation, explain why they kept losing, and urge them to give the game another shot. Which always seems to elicit the response "well you've got your opinion and I've got mine" but whatever.

If, on the other hand, they were fully aware of these elements but still didn't enjoy the game, fair play to them. I'll agree to disagree.

I believe women should be farmed for their ovaries and all sexual desires to be releases upon fruit.

That and I still enjoy the Fable games and I'm looking forward to FortressCraft.

In Dragonage, I just couldn't care about the NPCs, i quite liked alister by the time I'd gone through all the caracter development but i didn't finnish the game, so never found out about the other people. Same with Mass Effect when I specifically picked a soldier class, died many many times, and gave up. I never had time to learn their names. The gameplay sucked for me, for I'm writing them off

Deus Ex is bad. Though I do think that what it did for gaming as a whole is a good thing.

I think Tali from Mass Effect 2 is a horrible racist and one of the worst characters in the game because of it. What I mean by that is I think she's a bad person, not that she's a poorly written character. However, for a lot of people even suggesting that Tali isn't as perfect as they all claim gets you a lot of flak. Back when I posted on the BioWare forums one guy went so far as to dismiss my opinion on a completley different topic just becuase I didn't like Tali.

Come to think of it, a lot of my opinions on Mass Effect 2 aren't held by the majority. I think the plot was a lot better than most people claim. The ending in particular, which many people hate, is pretty good in my opinion.

Also I think Minecraft is overrated.

Well of course it isn't bad writing, Tali is suppose to intialy be that way (i can see her changing and maturing through ME3 as Tali gets a glimpse of what it must be like to be a geth). I can understand why Tali is bigot toward Geth, and I understand why Geth want to be free from their Quarian makers. But I| still like Tali as a character she is a well thought out and deep character.

On topic, most of my opinions are unpopular. lol

Call me crazy, but I don't understand the massive amounts of hate people can pile onto a single game, regardless of game.

Even the most frustrating game out there shouldn't inspire the amount of fury people lather onto games and the people who enjoy them. I can only imagine this is due to the insecurity of that person's opinions, and that they're under the impression that if they don't piss anyone off with their opinions, they can't valiantly defend them and say that they're the lone rebel thinkers in a world of ignorant sheeple or something.

I understand when people do it comically, like Yahtzee, but most people are just malicious as fuck and will defend their opinion on a game like it's their mother country.

If I think that every Blizzard game ever is bland then I might feel like mentioning it once in a while but in general I just live and let live. I don't feel the need to chase every thread about one of their games and tell everyone involved that they are fools and are destroying gaming.

I've never felt the need to tell anyone that I think that Onechanbara Bikini Zombie Slayers is a really fun game and the Wiimote control adds to the fun of the violence. I don't think that anyone cares really about my opinion on that game and would just make boring predictable comments about it.

But something like Brutal Legend where I enjoy it and there are threads about it I might chip in and say why I enjoyed it. If people have a sort of instinctive hatred of the game then I'll not bother replying to them but if they say something wrong then I might correct them.

I find religion to be a useful, essential part of human society, especially in the modern world.

88% of the internet disagrees with that sentence. 7% are too busy writing responses asking for a study to back up the previous statistic.

EDIT: The remaining 5% were likely mad those two percentages didn't add up to 100%.
I find religion to be a festering cloud of misinformation that kills people in brutal and sadistic ways and justifies it with a hand wave that has overstayed its time and needs to be eradicated as soon as it is practical to do so.

Despite being almost the exact opposite of your opinion, this is also a very unpopular view. I guess it just goes to show people in general don't like drama, huh?
Haha, this is so very true. We are just opposite ends of the spectrum, and no one likes an extreme.

And of course I understand why you feel the way you do. Religion has led to more death than, I'm guessing, anything else on earth besides disease. And yet I can't help but think that if all we had to live for was science and cold, hard reality, there would be a ton of suicides out there...

The way I see it, religion when done right is the warm cuddly dog that helps you through the hard times, but when done wrong turns into a vicious, crazed, violent hound. But really, who could imagine a world without dogs?

2. Heavy Rain is one of this generation's worst games. It sacrifices competent gameplay and player involvement to tell a story, but the story is awful, and half the time it doesn't even happen, passing the baton to another "let's get Madison's pants off" scene.
This.

The desire for games to feature moralistic messages and non-interactive stories has only harmed the industry.

Some of the worse games made this generation are from inde developers.

Movement away from arcade game design results in worse games.

Half Life 2 is worse than its predecessor.

God of War is an inferior version of Devil May Cry.

Halo is the best FPS of the last decade.

There is merit to your view, and I respect that. You're right, nothing is ever black and white. You've just got to decide whether the benefits outweigh the consequences for you personally.

Mind how you go.

I'm of the opinion that Too Human is good, and when faced with an opposite opinion, I just shrug it off and then probably go play it.
