Let's face it, as unappreciated games go UT3 must take the cake at the moment. I checked an right now there are only 37 gamers in the whole world who are playing deathmatch. I know, it's a bit early and it is Monday but still...

There are reasons why UT3 flopped like it did. The lackluster single player campaign for one, the somewhat limited UI might be another. But these are things that are just tiny problems if you consider how amazingly great the actual gameplay is. There is no other game in this generation that offers the cheer glee of murdering scores of opponents while running at 40km/h. And yet only a handful of people seem to embrace it while the vast majority treats the game like it has a horrible disease.

The main culprits are the UT2k4 fanboys who keep moaning about how the gameplay is inferior to their beloved game or about how UT3 caters only for console gamers. These arguments are completely unfounded. As a matter of fact the gameplay in UT3 is vastly superior then it was in previous incarnations (I should know, I've been addicted to them all) and it is clearly optimized for PC gaming. It's a textbook case of bandwagon mentality and I believe it's my sacred duty to go against the tide.

Trust me, you are missing out on one of the best FPS games ever made. Sure it has it's share of imperfections but if you are willing to look past those you will appreciate the craftsmanship that this game oozes out of every pore. The fact that nobody plays it also makes it one of the most exclusive titles around and thus one of the coolest. So stop being a sheep and dare to be different.

UT3 is okay - one of the problems that people have with it is that it's not revolutionary enough - it feels like UT 2004 with better graphics. Plus, they took out assault/defend mode and replaced it with Core or Warfare - you know, that silly mode where you have to take over nodes and whatnot.

The game itself is okay..... for some. On my computer it bugged out so many times that I gave up playing it. There were some maps that constantly crashed my computer, so that wasn't any fun. And I tried to play it online in Australia, and almost no one was playing it - the servers that had people were full, and everywhere else was an empty graveyard.

UT3 is good if you've NEVER played unreal tournament before. You also have to own a reasonable PC (although to be honest, the game runs smoothly on older computers as long as you turn the graphics down so low it looks WORSE than UT2004) and the game has so many bugs and glitches that it felt like a rush job.

And yes, the Single player campaign is bad and shallow.

But again, if you can find someone to play it with, it's good. The graphics are nice on higher end computers, the controls are very workable, the maps can be interesting and expansive (although quite a few maps are just small, cramped kill-box type maps which are only fun for 10 minutes).

What I'm trying to say is this - get it for the 360 or the PS3, because it's less likely to crash and you'll find someone to play it with. Don't get it for the PC. And don't get it if you're in Australia, because there's almost no one to play it with in that country. And if you've got UT2004, it's basically just that with better graphics. If you've played UT2004, you've played this game. And there was nothing wrong with UT2004, it was a great game. I just wish UT3 was different.

They made it difficult to lan with, gamespy and account logging in isn't a popular way of controlling piracy. If you make it difficult to lan a predominantly multiplayer game it will struggle. Also you pretty much need internet access to set it up, this may seem like something that doesn't bother a lot of people on escapist, but EVERYONE I game with pirates games BEFORE they buy them, usually at a lan. With my group of friends at least thats why it did so badly (I'm the only one with a copy, and I don't play it).

I recently had the chance to Play UT3 for a few days on Xbox 360.

And...well, it is UT.

Kinda like my problem to describe the sequels of the Bourne Movies, i can only say that it is UT, a good, and unique game that does not stray to far from the formular set up by previous incarnations wich make it hard to compare to the other games.
What can be said in favor of UT3 specifically however, is that it really looks nice and handles surprisingly excellent on the 360 Controller. I always considered UT too twitchy and fast paced for consoles, but the overall feeling of the console game is almost 1:1 to the PC

If someone held me at gunpoint for it, i'd say i prefer UT2k4 because there are more Modes and i like the style a bit more, followed by the original UT because...let's say we have a history.

But yeah, UT3, despite having fewer Modes, is a welcome Addition to the ever growing UT series that won't disappoint any Fan

EDIT: Oh, i forgot: The Story Sucks. ASS...but no surprise here i guess

I bought UT3 for the 360 and played it for a week or two (only single player) and enjoyed it. But then just stopped playing it. I never just feeling like playing it. Dunno why.

Yeah there aren't a lot of mods available. I guess nobody wants to invest the time if they believe people aren't going to play it anyway. It's a catch 22 situation really.

i got UT3 for PC played the single player for a bit but stooped due to its crappyness then moved on to multiplayer and found that there are very little people playing. it didn't go to well at the LAN's due to the pricey protection so i just stopped playing it but i did have some fun in the death match against the bots. all that aside i think its a good game as it plays well and looks nice

I picked up UT3 for the 360 and loved it. Had a great 2-3 week affair with it, then when it started to take 15 minutes to get a full game online, I quit playing. I do think the game it great and would be playing it now if there were more folks online for it. So I play COD4 instead.

I thought that I was the only person in the world who felt this way. It's such an amazing game, and I got it the day it came out on 360. But nobody plays it online. Also when I do get into a game, its a clan game and I'm told to leave. Come on. It is the one game I feel so sorry for, because its wonderful. Too bad theres nobody there to see it.

I love UT3, got it for 10 bucks at my local EB! can't go wrong with that. I find it sad that the community is so small, I would play it more if there was more people, but right now i"m too hooked ob warhead and crysis wars. I would gladly play with more friends online.

I'm not to surprised that a game like UT3 is not that popular. People play CoD4, Gears of War, and Halo 2&3 too much to appreciate a game like this. All of those games are great but they can't compare to Unreal Tournament 3. I'm not too sure but I don't think UT3 was as hyped as other games. I played it and i think it was great, BUT then again I'm one of those "F**k the story, F**k the graphics, all I care about is the game play" type of guys.
