I really can't help but feel bad for "Mercer". I mean Mercer spread the virus yes, but his weird virus clone takes all the blame. I mean "Mercer" turned out to be kind of a good guy and i actually liked him at the end, which really makes it hard for me to actually be the protaganist in Prototype 2 cuase i really don't actually feel the motivation to kill "Mercer". If anything i just want to give a man-hug.
Zeus, right? Well, there's a comic-form back-story to the second game, but that's basically it. He loses faith in humanity, basically. I don't know if you've played through the second game, but it's still a really weak reason for his personality to change so much. Also, I can't believe a few human beings could make him do what he does in the second game. The second game itself didn't give me any motivation to kill him either, I still want a better explanation for all that happened in the second game. I refuse to believe Zeus is as stupid as he seems in the second game.

I both feel bad for Zeus and a need to know more about his reasons. If they just killed him off then they really left the character half-done.

Alex Mercer has a Popped collars underneath a raised hoodie, under a popped collar imitation leather jacket. Badass or huge douche bag??
He's definitely a huge Douchebag in this game. Wasn't he the hero in the 1st one, or is that not the right word for that?

captcha: which new series will premiere on Cinemax this fall?
More softcore porn?

I agree with both of you. By the end of Prototype, Zeus was running around with the memories of hundreds of people, including (probably) quite a few US Marines (who are mostly decent people). (I played to get the 'don't eat civilians' achievement btw.) As a result, he seemingly developed a conscience over the course of the game, and was actively disgusted at Mercer for trying to wipe out Humanity.

Come P2... and because of a handful of self-serving people, Zeus' entire perspective has done a 180. This being the guy who has (essentially) met LOADS AND LOADS of GOOD people. P2 doesn't even mention the whole 'Zeus isn't Mercer' thing.

In short P2 was a fun game - I loved the gameplay changes, and being able to have two abilities active at once - but the plot was mediocre at best compared to the original. (And I couldn't forgive them for trying to blow up Manhattan again, but with Helicopters INSTEAD of a Nuke.)

I agree with literary everything you wrote. Worst thing with the plot in the second might have been how obvious every single thing was, from Zeus' "betrayal" in the beginning (not really a spoiler, considering everyone knows you have to kill him at the end for a reason) to Zeus intention with a certain vaccine, and everything in between and after. Especially the vaccine part, there were five or six missions just waiting for Heller to figure it out. It doesn't help that Heller was unlikable as a person as well. It was fun to play, but the story was.. weak. And relying too much on clichés. Also, they never picked up the plot from the first one, about Idaho and Pariah.

Why can't he be both? I'm fairly certain Mercer and Heller are both.

Bah, Mercer's jacket kicks ass. If you could wear anything in the world you wouldn't need to wear anything because you are already wearing that.

...The hoodie might have been a bad idea though. I don't think it makes him as mysterious as he thinks it does.

I think the hoodie originally was to hide his face (the original Mercer in the events right before the first game starts has a good reason to not get recognized) from people and from the cameras. Afterwards I would say he stuck with it for mostly the same reason, to hide his face (not that the clothes he's wearing isn't unique enough to get noticed right away, but there's some kind of weird logic in it, I think).

I really doubt the intention was to look mysterious, a pair of tentacles sticking out his back could have done the same thing easily.

Eugh, that first half of the cutscene was really all over the place, from an editing standpoint it seems like they went out of their way to try and make it choppy and ugly.

"Wasn't Manhattan destroyed? Why did everyone come back?"
Have you learned nothing from popular culture? No matter how many times something bad happens in New York, everything will be rebuilt and everyone will come flooding back in time for the next disaster. It's like the entire state is populated by ardent masochists.
That reminded me of 28 Weeks Later, where there are people stupid enough to want to go back to England just a few short months after most of the population were turned into ravanous killers by the Rage Virus.

I'm sorry, I don't care how how horrible the refugee camps are where ever in Europe you ended up, but it sure as hell beats going back to a country less than a year where nearly everyone died a horrible bloody screaming death.

Maybe in 28 years later when everything is pretty much back to the way it was before all the death and there is no chance of annoying children finding the one surviving person with the Rage virus.

I believe you're forgetting that annoying children in horror movies are either messianic or dead weight, so either one of the children will be the last surviving person with Rage virus, and some weird cult will form around them, or, yes, they will once again find that last person, and make everything crazy again.

CAPTCHA: foul smelling

Right, sorry, captcha, I forgot: children in horror movies are either messianic or dead weight, and they always, always smell bad.

My favorite part about these games remains taking the body of one of the girls in boots, and doing all the evil dressed that way. It's so much better than someone dressed like either of these two twerps. Also, ridiculous game is ridiculous, but at least the gameplay was slightly improved in the sequel.
