Unskippable: Vanquish: Part 1

Next episode has a lot of us questioning the goings-on in shock and confusion. This game seems like a ton of fun but WOW does it not make much sense.

Ton of fun is all that matters.

Unless you're one of those people who ONLY plays games for the plot. Then, Vanquish is really not for you.

That said...Vanquish has a pretty decent twist to the whole "Russians R Bad" thing towards the end. Not spoiling it, though.

Though the guy in charge was really creepy, looking like a bald, Russian, Marilyn Manson. (Maybe it's the eyeliner...)

Also, a space laser is an interesting (albeit unoriginal) concept... though my question is why some people ended up exploding. Ick...

The plot/story to this game is itself pretty heavy satire. There are some great lines. You know, when one satirizes satire, a type of...satirical vortex is formed. The satyrs are coming.

Anyway, please don't judge this game solely on this enjoyable 'unskippable'. It truly is one of the best, most challenging shooters ever produced. Hardcore, amphetamine-boosting-anime-slo-mo-bullet-hell-arcade-action-robots-and-zap-whoah!

This game separates the thumbsuckers from the futhermuckers, and is probably too much for you.

Space Russians? *Gasp* It looks like Space USA will have to take care of them. And I to am confused as to why nobody noticed the Space Russians building a giant frikkin' laser beam. Did the US government decide not to worry about Space USA anymore?

That was the best episode in months. Seriously XD I especially love when it was revealed the enemy was Russian XD

And the after credit was epic too.

I have to say and some others seem to agree that is is slightly like Ace Combat 6 what with the bridge in all XD But this might by my favorite yet. XD

hahaaa this was awesome (many parts had me chuckling, but the walking on the hologram thing...lol)
man the story as presented by this cutscene really doesn't rep the game well...
playing it a bit, I really only got the impression of Japanese mech warfare...which is exactly what it is (altho they latched on the U.S. versus evil Russians typical shooter backdrop thing on it...sooo...thanks Japan...we think? wait what lol)

Did something significantly bad happen on an international scale lately that involved Russia that i missed or is it just the new cool thing to do when you depict Russians as the bad guy? I've noticed in a few recent games that Russia is the enemy. There isn't a lot of them but the fact that several games have come out nearly back to back depicting Russians as villains. You think that after a game was banned by the country (modern warfare 2), this sort of thing wouldn't happen repeatedly.

A great episode. And honestly while the story is REALLY silly it's kind of the B-movie style of "So silly/ridiculous it's good". It's pretty clear from start to finish it's not taking itself one bit serious. A lot of games have dumb stories but want you to take them as they are, half the time you get the feeling Vanquish is laughing along with you and that goes a long way to earning forgiveness.

Isn't it curious that in Japanese games, when it's a Fantasy setting, there's Crows, (related to Russell of course), and when it's scifi setting, it's like in the Devil May Cry Unskippable, "The Mystic Moon" is always appearing!
