Many moons ago I played a game called "No One Lives Forever" and to this day it is one of the most fun FPSs I have ever played...graphics were nothing to write home about, but come on it was like nine years ago. Come to find out NO ONE has heard of this frickin' game! Do any of you have an unsung game whose name you'd like to shout from the mountaintops?

Shadow Warrior. Wildly fun and silly FPS, based off of Duke Nukem 3D. Barely anyone has heard of it, though. It's great.

Imperishable Night. It is an insane vertical shooter!

Edit: This photo of the game, and that is only Normal difficultly. You should see Lunatic.

I still think Geist was a really fun game to play with some friends. The single player may have been.....sub-par, but I really enjoyed the multiplayer. But I'm the only person I know that actually owns a copy of the game.

Not entirely unsung, but the original BloodRayne is one of my favorite games ever, purely for the atmosphere. It's the only game I've ever played that bills itself as an action game (and has the engine to back it up), but actually manages to be an unnerve-you horror title. Well worth a look.

Rosenkreuzstilette - Doujinshi Game and Rockman Clone but I don't care, it's one of the best games I have ever played.

Yggdra Union - Fun little TBS Game much like Fire Emblem I think..

Terranigma - Never released in America. Second best RPG I have ever played and the best part: No Turn Based Combat!

I would have to say The Illusion of Gaia back from the SNES days. One of the best RPGs I've played and yet I can never find anyone whose heard of it.

Bahamut Lagoon. Kick ass SRPG for the SNES that can only be played via ROM due to never being released outside of japan. Really awesome SNES game from Squaresoft that any self respecting SRPG fan should play.

Psychonauts sure as hell ain't unsung on the Escapist after that Zero Punctuation review.

Other than little flash games on the net, I'm not sure I'm really allowed to contribute here. I've never really tried or seen anything that no-one else has heard of. There are even Escapists who know what Oddworld is.

I'd just like to point out, even though it isn't out yet, that Edge of Twilight is a currently unsung game that looks bloody brilliant. Why aren't we Escapists talking about this game? Am I the only one who thinks it looks amazing?!

Unsung? I'd say Capitalism II. Masterful business simulation, but it's really a genre-fans-only proposition.

I'd say the Goemon series and the Ogre Battle series. They were so unsung that they won't release it in the western market anymore!

Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, which was a FPS actually developed by the same people as No One Lives Forever. Cool game that most people I've mentioned it to never heard of it. It had you playing on foot half the time and the other have the time in a giant robot. Both modes played like a FPS though, it was pretty sweet. I think it was the first Lithtech Engine game.

For RPGs, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. A simple but well delivered story. It's probably my favorite RPG.

Another RPG worth mentioning was Kights of Xentar. It had two versions, a T rating equivalent(rating system didn't exist yet I think) that was censored and sold in stores like EB (where I got it) and a AO version sold through mail order. Never played the uncensored version, but the version I had was hilarious. It was really funny all the way through.

Not sure if it was unsung but Thousand Arms was also a good RPG not many people seem to know. PSOne Atlus RPG that had you power up your weapons with minigames and a dating sim system. The writing was really funny on this one too. The graphics where good for the time with 2D SD sprites on a 3D overworld and large detailed character sprites on the battle screen. And plenty of voice acting.

And finally a couple fighting games.

Melty Blood, a 2D 1 on 1 fighter for Windows, was never officially released in the US, but there was a fan translation patch. I think it got arcade and PS2 releases in Japan.

Lastly, Evil Zone, a flashy 1 on 1 anime themed 3D fighter for the PSOne. The few people that have played this game either love or hate it. It had a simple control scheme involving only the D-Pad and two buttons, preforming different moves depended on what direction you were holding on the D-pad and distance from the other player. It was very different from other fighters at the time. The things I liked the most about it though was that the Story mode actually had a story for each character that played out in different styles. One guy had "Next time on!" like intermissions between each fight and another had lead in and lead out conversations with the other fighter or a 3rd party. Also, it's special moves were all cinematic, like a summon from a Final Fantasy, the first time you did them each round. Might have to break that game out again sometime soon...

Legend of Legaia. Absolutely fantastic JRPG, I've probably played through the story 10 times and its still as captivating as the first time. If you havent played it, pick up a copy or use an emulator and play it NOW. No, seriously. Go play it.

Except that game is incredibly popular around here. and the OP was looking for unheard of games.

That game was amazing. Why can't more games be like that? Before the grim and gritty era, we had original games like that.

Original War [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_War]. I've said it multiple times on this forum, and no one's heard of it. I mean, surely someone's played an RTS game about Russia and America fighting over a valuable resource, and going back in time to the prehistoric ages to secure said resource for their country, fighting each other and arabs in the process?

I loved that game, and I still do, but granted I have no clue whether this thing is actually good it could be terrible from a general opinion, because no one else has played it. But that is my unsung game and I still play it today.

Melty Blood is an awesome game, it was obviously made for fighting die-hards and fighting die hards only. The combos can go on for years, and some of the combo vids are just insane.

Hell with it, I'm posting one.

I loved that game. I got to the last level of that, and my hard drive corrupted. I was so stressed out, but I need to play that again and finish it.

You know, I always meant to buy that game, but never did. Hm.
