The new 'XCOM' game makes me angry for so very many reasons. It's just shit, shit shit shit shit shit SHIT and I hope it fails utterly.
I don't think I've been this upset about a new game... ever actually. But my god does this one do the trick, it's like the developers went out of their way to find every conceivable way to annoy me. Blarg!
I have a bad feeling about Fable: The Journey. I know it's not a proper addition to the franchise, but I just have this horrible feeling that it's going to do so badly that Fable 4 may never see the light of day, which is a terrible thought for me since I fucking love the Fable series.
To me, it's already dead.
Number 3 delivered the fatal blow, it had none of the magic (yes, subjective and personal feeling, I know...) that made Fable great.
I regret wasting money for the Limited Edition. I thought it was going to be the new pinnacle.
Personally, I've been disappointed greatly with it.
Fable: The Lost Chapters was the peak of the games, in my humble opinion :/
(Fable 2 was still great, though)
OT:
Currently, this seems like the next killing blow to a franchise I love.
Maybe it turns out pretty good, who knows, maybe I'll like, even love it when I've finally gotten to play it.
But the indicators I've seen are pointing towards an entirely different direction.
I agree with you about the Fable games. I've enjoyed each one to some degree, but they've been becoming less with each successive release. Each time they make a new game they take away something that gave the original and Lost Chapters it's unique flair. And it's not the setting or anything. The storyline, what there is of it, has been enjoyable. But Fable 2 took away lots of enemy types and 3 took away the "charm the crowd" enjoyment that the expression options used to provide by making them one on one interactions.
And honestly,
if THE FRIGGIN KING OF ALBION walks up to you, are you really... REALLY... only going to befriend him if he runs a stupid erand for you? REALLY???? I get the whole building your reputation and all that in the beginning, but once your King? REALLY????????

The new XCOM. I mean microprose and hasbro really did a number on the franchise resulting in its untimely death but now 2K is digging up the corpse. Now when we talk about how great X-Com was we gotta add in "the original games"...... feels like when you talk about Star Wars.

For me, Sonic Generations will kill the already dead-yet-undead Sonic franchise. It'll just be rushed and underdeveloped just to coincide with Sonic's 20th anniversary.
Seeing as his actual 20th birthday was a while back, and Colours was actually really good (including the somewhat campy storyline - Duke, spit out that gum and take notes), can't you at least give Sega the benefit of the doubt? Even if you honestly believe that the only even halfway decent Sonic games were the original up to Sonic and Knuckles, this has that Sonic and his gameplay as well...
Then again, Sonic unofficially has the worst 'fans' ever, so that probably means I'll be the only person over 12 who'll play Sonic Generations to have fun rather than nitpick for faults, including but not limited to the inclusion of Modern Sonic and the gameplay from Unleashed('s day levels, I mean). Sounds cynical, I know, but I've already seen a Youtube commenter who wants Classic Sonic, in the ending, to never want to grow into his older self, so can you really blame me?
Also, I liked Sonic Heroes. Cue everyone flooding my inbox with 'reasons' why I shouldn't like it.

OT: I don't keep up with a lot of major game releases, seeing as I'm really not interested in/can't play most of them, so there's not a lot I can say about upcoming game releases, and I wouldn't know which ones will kill off a franchise. As for games that have already come out, though, I can say that Pokemon Black/White would be a very hard act for Game Freak to follow without making a Pokemon MMO, and Nintendo wouldn't let them do that, so I really hope they don't. In the best-meaning sense possible, of course.
BF3. It will be the 19th battlefield title and possibly the last. Why? Origin, web based server browser, lack of regard for user feedback, naff gameplay (the alpha sucked). They would have to seriously overhaul the gameplay by the time the beta is out to get me to even considering buying it.
i'm actually hoping the new tomb raider will make good on every promise it made, because a franchise that big might pull survival horror out of obscurity (and the new lara reminds me of Zoe Castillo)
but yeah the new fable, is it called journey...er (sigh)
It's already been released, and it proved me wrong from the fact Skyward Sword is in production as we speak... But I'd love to have said the 3d re-release of Ocarina Of Time... But Nintendo won't ever let one of their franchises die... that's just too... charitable of them I guess.
*EDIT*
I'd also like to see whatever damned expansion Blizzard are working on be the end of World Of Warcraft. Up until the end of The Burning Crusade it was a great game, then it just... wasn't, in my opinion.
Even though I am a pretty big fan of the series, Modern Warfare 3 needs to be the last CoD game for a few more years.
That type of game has reached it's peak and there is really nothing more it can do.
My advice? Work on an updated engine, try to outplay yourself. Throw all caution to the wind and think of a new Multiplayer. Keep the basic run and gun formula, get rid of Perks and find a new way to play off Killstreaks. You have the fanbase, now do something with it.
That was fucking terrible. I've always kind of dreamt of someone making a video game version of Inglorious Basterds, but that sure as hell was the wrong way to do it.
I'm not entirely sure, but Silent Hill downpour sounds so so so much lamer than Homecoming.
Perhaps i'm just being a silly fanboy, but i definetly find that western developers don't grasp the true concept of horror.
