I feel the same about Horizon Zero Dawn as well.
It looks really good but there are so many ways it could go wrong considering what open worlds have been in recent years.

For Honor as well, I like the look of it though the mp focus makes it iffy for me.

- Mass Effect: Andromeda (less on the fence and more on waiting for a sale)
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Yooka-Laylee
- Ace Combat 7
- Little Nightmares
- Nintendo Switch

Not sure if there is any other game to be released year that catches my attention.

Fire Emblem Warriors. If this game only has the characters from the last 2 suck-ass FE games this game is going to suck apex donkey balls.

Yeah horizon dawn is a pretty good choice, it just seems like it's going to be far cry neo primal, with all the same shortcoming.

For honor, I'm sorta on the fence, i.e. I'm waiting for it to go f2p cause I'm tired of buying MP only game that die out after a few weeks.

Nier automata, 1st gameplay was super boring but strong story/character/music, then they made drakengard 3 with the same problem. So I'm gonna wait on it, demo was a bit too shallow for my taste but could improve fast.

Similarly south park, there was no real reason to play the first one, might as well watch a LP. Apparently there working hard on that, but who knows.

Ace combat 7... I'm just a ball of hype for that, bring back strangereal any day.

If mount and blade banner lord comes out I probably will give it a few months, its bound to be full of bug and missing feature.

There are no games announced for this year so far that I'm "on the fence" about.

My hype thrusters for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown are most likely going to explode before the game's release. Let me just put it bluntly: We're going back to Strangereal, and a lot of major players from the PS2-era Ace Combat development teams are taking us there.

I hope they have a statue in Oured to commemorate the Razgriz Squadron, and especially their destruction of the Strategic Orbital Linear Gun attack satellite that saved the city.

I'm pretty hopeful for the games coming up this year. We have a new Persona game (that isn't another Persona 4 spin-off, thank god) a new Platinum Games title in Nier Automata, a Berserk game that looks to be quite good and some more I can't remember off the top of my head.

Still i'm on the fence about For Honour after playing the beta. Some pretty damn severe balance issues there and the playerbase is 80% children/manchildren.

I'm also expecting the new Mass Effect to suck dick now that Bioware has stopped being the quality studio it once was. I hope it turns out to be amazing but i'm expecting it to be average at best and straight garbage at worst.

Mass Effect Andromeda - I got 3rd degree emotional burns last time, and I'm just not ready to trust again.

South Park Fractured But Whole - Historically multiple delays are not a good thing

Horizon Zero Dawn - Robots? Check. Lady-types? Check. Stealth? Check. Dinosaurs? Check. Then why is my gut telling me something is off?

For Honor - I have it on good authority there's a legit single player. But 'legit' these days is Titanfall 2 and Order 1886, ie begrudging 3 hour training for multiplayer

Halo Wars 2 - RTS with a controller?!

Dawn of War 3 - My local GW manager confirmed. Matt Ward is Chief Consultant.

Agony - Yeah, I saw Event Horizon too. And it was terrible. Come back when you have something not stolen from Dante's Inferno.

Mechwarrior 5 - Assuming its still a thing...poor bastards.

Oh, and every single other video game slated for release. Ever. EVER

None actually. I think this is the first time I have never been excited for any new releases. The last few years have really burned me.

mass effect andromeda is going to disappoint lot of people.
Well, no, because nobody is really excited for it. Even people who actually like Mass Effect 3 like me don't care a whole bunch, because we've "done" Mass Effect. We went, had an adventure, and then it finished.

The Emperor has abandoned us!

On the one hand, I'm not liking the aesthetic and these days I find the old style DoWI gameplay, which III kind of resembles, to be pretty dull compared to II, at least in multiplayer. On the other hand I was totally against the changes from I to II until I actually played it, so as the title says, I'm sitting on the fence for this one.

Admittedly I tend to buy games a while after launch (a: because fuck pre-order culture and b: damn near every AAA game goes 50% off a month later) so most of my 'on the fence' is solved after the fact, but here's mine:

Horizon Zero Dawn - The trailers look good, but haven't heard anything else about the game. Which is a problem for me when it comes to AAA games, because the trailers are always designed to look good and if I'm not hearing anything about the game then something is probably going wrong with it.

Mass Effect Andromeda - I like Mass Effect, I just... can't help but feel this should be a new IP instead, and that the game is going to suffer because they're going to be desperately trying to hook it onto the previous three games. Also, haven't heard anything about it, which is again, not a good sign. As I said to friend, 'if any of the Krogans ***** about the Genophage, I'm going to eat them'.

For Honor - It looks good, but I'll see how the game population is a couple months in before investing in it.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands (fuck these games are getting long titles) - A game my friend is interested, but for me after watching a few early plays of it, it looks... like a completely generic sandbox shooter. Unless it's got an amazing story to it (it's a Tom Clancy game, it won't), it's not exactly going to be high on my priority purchases.

...on one hand, I liked his Necron fluff. On the other hand, that really explains why Ol' Gabe was doing backflips in Terminator Armor...

Ah well. Worst comes to worst, it'll just go the way of Soulstorm and be casually erased from everyones mind, so that six months down the track everyone wonders why they never made a Dawn of War 3.

Didn't the trailer showing Marth's sword imply that the Akaneian games are pretty much confirmed? Not that that's particularly good since its a continent inhabited almost solely by blank slates.

The game I'm on the fence about it Zelda. I'm exited but I worry that the world might be a little too big and without enough to do in it to hold my interest between the dungeons and bosses.

Huh? They've been promoting the shit out it, especially in the last week or so. There's a ton of gameplay footage on Youtube if you're interested.

They've also already sent out review copies. Generally a sign of confidence from the publisher. Although not a guarantee of quality, obviously.

Well now I'm confused as to why I haven't heard anything about it, I *literally* only found out it was a thing because people mentioned it in this thread and I checked the Playstation Store to see what it was. Haven't seen a thing about it on Youtube either, and I check that near-daily.

...though, that said, my Youtube is nothing but music videos and animation reels, so, might be why I'm not seeing upcoming video game stuff. Whoops.

and a few years later get used as the base for some awesome mods that turn it into something that far surpasses the base game.

All unreleased games exist in a state of quantum indecision until sufficient passing of "the trials" for me. All people do. All films do. All experiences whatsoever (well, maybe not all, like necrophilia and the such). Always on the fence all the time. It's a pretty but confusing view from here.
But aesthetically, am digging the Horizon Zero Dawn style so far. Reminds me of pleasant memories with that game Odyssey Enslaved West (not in that exact order probably) except more of a world and intrigue to explore. Keeping an eye on it for now.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

I just don't have too much faith in Guerilla Games. The Killzone games have been mediocre at best, and let's just say as a fellow dutchman we don't have that blockbuster mentality required for games of this scale.

Added to that, the whole concept of robot dinosaurs is something that sounds cool on paper, but in practice I feel might be a bit too silly (for what appears to be a sincere attempt at world building).

I'll still be picking it up come release, but I'm setting myself up for a dud.
