Hmm I don't know if i'd buy the Xbox 720 seeing as I rarely use my xbox for anything other than Netflix nowadays and chatting with some friends. Pretty much all of my gaming has gone over to PC by this point.

Oh and that name is stupid as hell too... xbox 720? COME ON
Um... that's... not what it's going to be called. That's just what people call it because 360x2=720. It's the same reason people were calling the Game Cube the Nintendo 128 before any kind of announcement was made for it. Only Sony is so creatively bankrupt to keep their systems on a numbering theme.

I hate it when people call it the 'Xbox 720'. Jesus, Microsoft aren't the unimaginative when it comes to naming consoles. I would have just said 'the next Xbox'.

As for the news, It seems really strange how they didn't announce this at E3, it wasn't that long ago.

I'll never buy another Microsoft console. This thing will be rushed as hell so I guess I got nothing to be upset about

Well, I guess it's nice to hear it's actually confirmed.. though we all knew it was coming years ago when the 360 started becoming a major success. As always though, despite loving the original Xbox and the 360, my interest is low until we start hearing about and seeing some games. All the features and specs and doodads in the world, or my history with the brand for that matter, won't make a difference to me if teh library is garbage.

Simply because they were waiting for E3 2013. Nintendo had their WiiU at E3 2012 and announcing the next Xbox there when there's still a way to go would be bad marketing.

I doubt that the next Xbox will have all the possible specs listed in this article, consoles don't need as much RAM compared to their PC counterparts simply because the OS is nowhere near as sophisticated. The 360 had knock-off hardware and I don't expect things to change.

There's no way this thing is coming out around the time of the Wii U. Microsoft hasn't talked about it until now, it hasn't revealed anything about it (Though the leak could be true), we know nothing about the games coming for it, and they're still trying to sell the Xbox 360. I can see it coming Mid-Late 2013, but not Late 2012. It's an improbability that will cost them dearly.

Also, here's a funny thought: What if this new Console is only Graphically Equivalent to the PS3/Wii U? I mean, that would technically be more graphically powerful, and the thing does run on Blu-Ray.

And they're backwards compatible! Hooray! Will this make newer games more expensive as it will cost more to produce them up to those specs?

Is the ouya going/meant to be more powerful than this new xbox?
Ouya won't be anywhere near as good, technologically speaking.
That is true. Ouya is supposed to compete with Wii-U and Tablets.

The specs on this XBox 720 are slightly better. I guess I may have to buy a 2GB Memory Card for my old laptop in order to exceed it.

You know what would be great? To port over the current XBLA games to the 720, and then allow people to download the games they have for the 360 on the 720!

Im just saying... it would make me extremely happy.

Hooray? I mean it sounds cool and all but a release by the end of 2012? I just hope the new systems have all the kinks worked out and aren't being released simply to meet the holiday season.

... Oh who am I kidding, of course they would release it for the holiday season. Even if it did have crippling issues.
Everyone knows Microsoft learned their lesson from the RROD, whatever they launch, they'll test the shit out of it to avoid it.

Still not buying it. My Pc has better specs and it still functions as a media hub.

I would think the same model with the psn on the vita to download psp games would be at work here for digital games on the 720. I could also see a transfer app that will allow you log in your Xbox live account to the new system and transfer over all the purchases with said account via Ethernet or WiFi. All of this speculation however..we will just have to wait and see.

"Hall said that Microsoft is releasing it to coincide with "the new wave of products," including Windows 8, Office 15, the next generation of Windows Phones, and the aforementioned Xbox."

GOD DAMN IT! I finally have new stuff, and now it's all going to be outdated by something new?! Are you serious?! I JUST bought a new Xbox and a new laptop! Bloody hell.

... Well, it's progress, I guess. And it probably won't come out until the end of the year. I've got time to enjoy what I have. What, four, five months?

Meh. I grew tired of Microsoft's crap about a year ago, so there is no chance at all that I will buy this thing.

I am excited about the other systems though. The WiiU could be really cool with that tablet, if they do it right. The Ouya is some nice innovation as well.

I really want to see the PS4 though, and I am very anxious. I am excited, but I am worried that they are going to screw it up with some stupid gimmick (such as move) or go to a paid online service like Microsoft's. :(

I'm actually more intrigued by this new "Surface" tablet they've unveiled. I'm not one for mobile computing, especially not Apple products anyway, but if Microsoft really show that this tablet isn't restricted, as Apple products are, nor super-expensive, as Apple products are, and backwards compatible with my PC and Xbox, as Apple products aren't; then I might pick one up.

But relating to this new console, I am still highly intrigued in what features it will contain. It had better be backward-compatible for old games, and through Xbox Live, as not being able to play my purchased digital arcade games or any of my 360 games' library could deter me from purchasing it. I just hope it's not released any time in the next 6 months, as I simply couldn't afford the damn thing.

Time to bag some sleep, me thinks.
