So, Serebii seem to have gotten a hold of some CoroCoro scans and are currently translating them (keep in mind these may not be legit just yet) and some of the info in the scans suggests that there may be Mega forms. The scans show different versions of Blaziken, Lucario, Absol, Mawile and Ampharos. The names of the forms seem to just be MegaBlaziken, MegaLucario etc.

The new Mewtwo form is also on this page so I'm not entirely sure what to make of that; maybe the new form is called MegaMewtwo (doesn't sound right though).

The scans also show 3 new Pokemon: Meekuru (Gogoat's pre-evolution), Horubii (the rabbit, normal type) and Dedenne (electric/fairy type).

These scans may not be legit but what do you think of the possibility of other Pokemon having new forms besides Mewtwo?

EDIT: It has been confirmed that this info is legit and an event Torchic with a new item, Blaziken Knight, will be released the same day as X and Y which can eventually become MegaBlaziken. A new item called the Mega Stone has also been mentioned.

I'm actually quite glad for this.

Reason being is because since Black and White raised the power bar with the likes of Darmanitan and Haxorus, many 1st 2nd and 3rd gen Pokemon have been put to the wayside in terms of competitive battling. Even Mewtwo has become underused due to the introduction of Darkrai.
Hopefully with this Mega Stone. Many Pokemon that neither benefitted from recent evolutions or dream world abilities will finally find themselves being used again.

Mega form? It sound like they have gone Digimon on us! I'm not saying it's a bad thing but it is unexpected. Stil my mate is over the moon that Absol got a new form (she adore him)!

Also doesn't Dedenne just look like a redesign version of Raichu (make it mose mouse like)? They should of used a different shade of orange.

This may come across as hypocritical coming from the guy that hosts The Escapist's resident Pokemon-themed game, but I'm always a little weary whenever a new batch of Pokemon are announced. The designs are getting repetitive and boring, sometimes incredibly idiotic (furniture Pokemon?!), they've already adapated the same animals several times, and all I can think of is "there goes 100 more reasons why we will never catch them all". Ken Sugimori can and will rotoscope the same cutesy rodents and threatening reptiles for the rest of his life, and people will buy them like it's novelty.

Dem names...

What use does Absol have for wings?

Why did Ampharos jump straight out of an 80's metal band?

And those are the two I actually like.

Are these actually going to be accompanied by stat boosts when the Pokemon transform? I did always have a soft spot for Absol--Though I'm not sure why they couldn't just be extra evolutions since they'll... functionally be the same thing, surely?

I don't even know anymore. Pokemon, you've lost me.

Can I just say I totally want that rabbit.

I know he's probably the new Bidoof, but he's got such a derpy expression I can't help but love him.

It's like Sugimori can't win.

His team is either criticized for trying to hard by basing Pokemon off of mythological creatures and more obscure types of animals, or he is criticized for basing Pokemon once again on basic animals.

I mean...what do you want from them?
They are damned either way so perhaps them just making whatever looks good works for them the best instead of appealing to one or the other spectrum of complaints.

So apparently the way they change forms is via "Mega Evolution"...

So Pokemon is trying to be Digimon now? They seriously couldn't come up with a better name than adding Mega to everything? New forms look good don't get me wrong, but seriously. Better names

I believe the designs are based off of Yveltal and Xerneas, note the runes seen on Megalucario's leg or the Different colors on Blaziken.

Do they look familiar?

The plot has got to revolve around DNA being fucked with because just look at the title of the japanese versions

The DNA strand can be seen right up the middle there (It's all rainbow-y)

Gamefreak, well played.

The new forms thing I'm not sure if I like. I think the rabbit is cute, but that Electric/Fairy Pokemon looks distressingly similar to Raichu.

I've mostly liked the Pokemon designs I've seen so far, though (mantis shrimp, fuck yeah!). I'll enjoy the game as always, I'm sure.

Funnily enough your avatar is of Digimon.

Thank god the designs are not near digimon level. Not even remotely, though I think the name will be changed for US shores. Mega sounds like something Japanese would use.

Hey don't forget the juggernaut that is friggin Conkeldur.

Sure it's slow as molasses but even unvested that thing hits like a freight train, heals and buffs itself too.

Could be cool, will see how it turns out I guess.

I know there are only so many animals in the world but come on, there're about 650 Pokemon and a good hundred of those alone are some kind of rat. Rather than do a little research and look up some new interesting species (there're only 1.8 MILLION kinds of insects, with 20,000 NEW species discovered every year), or simply get a little creative, he keeps rehashing old models, palette-swapping, refloating the same concepts over and over and over again. And when he does come up with something new it looks like this:

Come the fuck on, Ken.

I am totally okay with that.

Also Blaziken will be more badass? sure!
although I wouldn't mind new names other than MegaBlaziken. But whatever.

Or better yet, Charizaur - a dual type Fire/Dragon that, instead of Blaze for an ability, has Levitate.

Since Black and White raised the power bar? What the fuck are you talking about. There has always been powerful Pokemon in every gen. Black and White raised nothing, there just powerful pokes in there like every other gen. What Pokemon have been tossed to wayside exactly. You give me the name of a poke that used to be in OU, yet is now in NU because of black and white. Tons of people that still use Mewtwo, it has nothing to do with Darkrai. Where did you get this info? I want an exact source.

From what I've seen around the net is that most don't like it because of the name. Seriously? I couldn't care less that Digimon has used the word Mega and now Pokemon does too. I love this and I'm now seriously considering using Ampharos in my team. I haven't used it since playing pokemon silver the first time, many eons ago.
This just gets me more excited about the next game. Game Freak did a great job at keeping this a secret. Didn't expect it at all and I don't think anyone else did. I don't recall any of the leakers mentioning this.
The only thing that I don't like is the new pikaclone pokemon. Sure, it's supposed to resemble Pikachu but I think the design is a little bit too close to Pikachu and Raichu.

Anyway, I'm really excited to see how this will impact the games. Of course, we still now too little about them, like stats and other things to speculate much but some of the abilities already seem pretty good.

Man, I hope better pictures are shown for the Mega Pokemon. Yeah, it seems a bit Digimon-y, but hey, Digimon is awesome. And most of these Mega Pokemon look awesome (from what I can see). Also, several Pokemon already resemble Digimon.

(I wanted to use an image that showed off several, but I haven't been able to find it)
