You can find the video on Joystiq, also was that a Galka(a playable race in FFXI online) I saw in the video? If so, maybe this new world is linked to Final Fantasy XI's Vanadia somehow.

FFXI has done very well but it's very outdated even by today's mmo standards since it was built based on Everquest. Okay so FFXI was slightly more user friendy than Everquest(I hated the EQ user interface).

I wonder if they are going to use the same system or maybe go in another direction, maybe throw in some "good" PvP, unlike that BS Conflict system from FFXI.

The Final Fantasy franchise is fast becoming Sony's Mario, in that they just keep flogging it to death. I suppose if it's still making them money, why would they care; but I'm praying for a final Final Fantasy.
Not really, each installment is diffent (excluding X and X-2).

The Final Fantasy part mean that it will include chocobos and an intellgent man by the name of Cid.

I'm wondering if they aren't shooting themselves in the foot for the Western markets. The PC and 360 represent a significant amount of potential customers. And lets not forget they they still have to fight against WoW and numerous other MMOs out there.

I just can't see them sticking to one platform for the entirety of the game. I'm going to peg this one as "timed" exclusive, if it's even that.

It sounds like it'll be like FF11 just hope it has more solo ability and better PvP. If it's not like that, then I hope it's like Diablo 2, where you can do the whole game solo or do it together online just with your own customizable character with a class system like 11, if not, better but keep alot of the same jobs and abilities. I have played FF11 and loved it, I preferred it's combat system over others just wish soloing wasn't so hard, especially for missions/quests/etc.

I just hope this time, the game will be an RPG that just happens to have an "O" aspect, rather than another generic MMORPG.
Very yes. I would definitely love this game if it were in the same vein as Diablo 2 or Sacred 2

FFXIV Online is actually announced for PC as well.

And I for one will certainly be picking FFXIV up for PC. While FFXIII and FFversusXIII for PS3. :D

I for one, no longer give a fuck about Final Fantasy.
And MMO's.

That is all.

Even by MMORPG standards FFO was dull.

WHy do I keep seeing people claim that FFXI was a horrible game that did horribly? It still has many fans years after release and makes a good amount of money for SQE. WOW is wildly popular and dominates the market, yes, but that doesn't mean that all other MMO's are doing poorly.

Will it hit the PC for the major MMORPG leagues?
No it says PS3 Exclusive, which is very bad. Of course why would Square dip its head into the vat of epic MMOs to come. Competition from WoW is enough, they don't need to see the likes of Star Wars,Star Trek,Jumpgate:Evolution,The Agency and Guild Wars 2.

Gah, I rely on Square for my non western MMO's. I love Final Fantasy and I for one don't plan on playing a monthly fee to play a ps3 game. If it's like Guild Wars and is a one time release, then maybe. But otherwise, thats just gonna be another "me waiting for the next FF."

Also, I specifically opted not to play twelve because it plays like a western MMO, from what everyone I know that has played it told me. I'm hoping XIII goes back to the old formula, or some variation there of.

If this is free like Guild Wars is, I might consider getting it (I actually play Guild Wars occasionally) but other wise, it can pass me by.

Problems with playing an MMORPG on the Xbox 360

Pay for the game : £40
Pay for Xbox Live: £5 a month
Pay for monthly subscription: £10 a month?

so thats £55 for the first month
£15 for anything after that

I'd rather not pay for the means to play then pay for playing

PC release plox

Why does square hate money? FF MMOs suck and do not work.
Please tell me that you're kidding - I really don't want to believe that people on our site are that uninformed. You shouldn't confuse "things I like" with being successful. There's a very significant difference between those two things.

Final Fantasy Online, and MMOs in general, are the total opposite of "not working". FFXI was launched in 2002, and has been running since. It has easily averaged 200k subscribers since that time (and likely more, given the number of servers they operate) at around $13/month. With those figures they've easily earned over $200 million dollars just from the subscription revenue, and that doesn't include the profits from the initial game or expansion purchases, or premium services (extra character slots, etc).

It's very likely that Final Fantasy XI is their most profitable game ever, and making millions more every month.

It's not releasing on the 360, but I do know that Final Fantasy XI on the 360 doesn't require players to have a Gold membership. You still need to pay the subscription though, and it has a rather substantial install size.

It's also releasing on the PC. Hopefully Square-Enix does better with the control scheme this time around. That was my most significant gripe with FFXI.
