I'm not gonna lie. If you tell me that theres a game on the market with awesome upgradeable weaponry and armor or what have you, I'll probably buy it. If the upgrades are shown on the model, I'm almost guaranteed to buy it. If the upgrades look totally sweet/do something crazy, I'm sold. I played Wolfenstein and enjoyed it, mainly because the upgrades are stupidly awesome. I loved Bioshock, not just because of the upgrades, but still. Are there any games featuring awesome upgrades that you've loved?

Not quite yet but anytime I hear more about Borderlands I'm like a thirteen year old kid with a hot teacher.

Just played Medal of Honor: Airborne. Upgrades make that game fun. Shitty AI makes that game suck.

I'm going to go extremely retro and say Oracle of Seasons, because the Roc's Cape and the Magical Boomerang were wicked awesome.

Sweating profusely and awkwardly stuttering? Actually that's probably about right, at least in my case.

I like badass outfits and whatnot but I don't like paying for DLC really

KOTOR II - While the armor didn't seem too important to upgrade and customize I fell in love with modifying my lightsabers with Ultra energy cells and rare crystals. The force power upgrading was also my favorite.

Recently I enjoyed the upgrades you could purchase in Prototype.

Don't kill me but I don't like upgrades ^^
Not because it's not fun, but now to upgrades you need money and to have money you need to search in every house of the "open-linear-game" some bags of money that are on the dinning table...
The upgrade makes sens in a FPS like STALKER because it's part RPG but it doesn't make sens in a FPS like Wolfenstein... And I think you are already too strong at the start of the game so if you upgrades your weapon to have everything on it you lose all difficulties (well... you loose the last few difficulties).
The game today are WAY to easy and I think upgrades must be include in games that still have difficulty (like STALKER for example) or you put upgrades but that be part of the story line like in HL2 and you gravity gun turn blue and you can shoot people with it ;).

That's what I think,

I loved the marauder in Warhammer Online, stopped playing it because the pvp was really messed up....the good guys were superbly overpowered and could oblitorate the bad guys....but the marauder was like....OoOoOOOoo a claw mutation on low lvl...OoOooO a sword mutation a bit later....OmGGGG a club mutation!!! the cooler thing was...you look like a roman gladiator(imo :p)the WHOLE FRIGGING GAME, and in the end you look like a mutating viking(had the mega beard option with long hair and mean badass face :p)

But the mutations started only at your hand and slight bit of your underarm, and as you leveld, some other skins for your mutations came along and they started to take over your whole arm and a bit around your shoulder(was the left arm)....I was so into the marauder even though it was one of the weakest classes, I just couldn't care, if I died, I died looking awesome xD, I always yelled before going into battle: LET THOR'S HAMMER STRIKE YOU DOWN! etc etc :p...

*sobs* I now want to play WAR again >.>

Good: Parasite Eve, because I made a shotgun that fires flaming acidic cyanide rounds

Bad: Ratchet and Clank, because the most interesting and useful weapons were in the second game. Example: The lava gun getting a seriously stupid final upgrade. Why would anyone trade in a gun that shoots a laminar stream of LAVA for one that shoots little meteors that miss half the time and to crap damage? Also any R&C game that doesn't have the Bouncer just irritates me.

Crazy: Infamous, although the best powers are reserved for the dark side. Scatter grenades and arc lightning for FTW!

Prototype has some wicked upgrades. it will cost you billions of points to get them all but it is worth it.
