this has got nothing to do with the ethics of the war, or who is the good guy in this war (short answer: no one involved is).

the point is that this is offensive to people who have friends (like me) and family out fighting in Afghanistan now. MoH seems to be creating controversy (by naming one side the taliban and setting the game in Helman provence) just to generate publicity and thus money.

what some peopel call a distressing and life rendering situtation MoH calls "kachinngg!"
Yeah, this is my point. Nobody's questioning the economics of MoH doing this, the issue straight in the sights is people getting pissed off about this stupid little thing. Games all the time have us going out killing obviously Russian, South American, Middle Eastern, etc. people, but as soon as it comes to another point of view, shit suddenly hits the fan.
You need to realize that yes, nobody is a good guy in war. That means that you can't complain when it's just a different set of bad guys shooting. People should be fucking glad that we don't actually show their backstory, that Taliban fighters actually have souls and family members who are grieving whenever the triumphant newscaster says that 15 Taliban fighters were killed by a UAV strike.

Well if they feel it's too soon then why don't they tell us when the war on terror will end and we can set the game to take place after that time?

Naming the opposing middle eastern side something else is as retarded as making a ww2 game and remaning the nazis.

I love that a game about killing people is debated about because of some of the people chosen to kill or be killed. There was less reaction to the Russian airport scene in MW2...except for in Russia, because they were fucking pissed off! But in America, nasically people were like 'is it violent? Ah fuck it, who cares..'
It's ok to kill and murder evil ruskies and arabs, but people will shit and freak the fuck out if one of those arabs gets to shoot back. I wonder, if EA had made all the taliban characters run around with their hands up, incapable of shooting anyone, would anyone (except gamers going wtf is this shit?) have protested? Or if they had just named the taliban 'big nosed arab devils.' would the military have said anything?
When it's North Korea, China, Russia, or any number of Arab nations, it is perfectly fine to shoot at them, as long as they can't shoot back or be depicted as shooting back. And especially when it happens to be a group that we're currently blowing the fuck out of. If they had waited 2 years would we care? Fuck no.
Just overly sensitive bullshit. And before anyone says "Tell that to the guy with his legs blown off." That guy can go talk to some armless iraqi or afghani kid about that shit, ok?

Youre annoyed that this game lets you see the other sides point of view? Even with it being this limited? Pretty inconsiderate. Were you also annoyed when they showed you innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan being killed by your armed forces? Bit too much like sympathy? Must have really pissed you off when someone told you that "insurgent" wasnt another word for "terrorist", bloody English language sympathising with the enemy.

"Whats that? Learn some of the MANY reasons why they are fighting us? F*ck that! Shoot them in the face! Time learning about people we are currently at war with is time we could spend killing and stopping people from humanising the other side by listening to them. Its the same deal we had with Hitler... dont learn about him just put up notices telling everyone to be on the look out for Charlie Chaplin." - See how ridiculous that is? Not only is it stupid but not learning about the people you currently consider to be your enemy is probably the BIGGEST mistake you can make. You are asking people to support ignorance and propoganda.
