The Sun said:
Two pals were barred from entering the US after innocent tweets joking about "destroying America" were picked up by the country's anti-terror cops.
First someone from the UK gets extradited to the US [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.338398-British-Student-Loses-Extradition-Battle-Over-Copyright-Violation] while the US didn't have the authority.

Now 2 people from the UK get barred from the USA over a little joke tweet.

Hmmm, it seems the US went overboard here.

EDIT 1: I am not familiar with UK news sites. So, I don't know which are 'respectable'. But it seems, from the posts here, The Sun has a bad reputation. Well, let me link a few more news sites then...

Daily Mail [http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2093796/British-tourists-arrested-America-terror-charges-Twitter-jokes.html]
The Register [http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/01/30/tweet_deportation/]
The Blaze [http://www.theblaze.com/stories/report-dhs-expels-2-brits-from-america-over-destroy-america-tweet/]
Huffington Post [http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/01/30/leigh-van-bryan-and-emily-bunting-banned-from-entering-us-after-twitter-joke-about-destroying-america_n_1241104.html]

I for one find their banning entirly justifiable. How dare they joke about desecrating the corpse of one of the hottest women in history? The nerve of some people.

OT: In all seriousness, this sucks but it's nothing new. They probably should have known better than to joke about destroying a country that's paranoid as fuck about it's national security.

Being a proud Englishman, I am proud to announced that all of you Americans are filthy savages. How are you going to shut me up now, I say, how about it, Queensbury rules? I have the first hit Ol chap, because I'm a classy Englishman, and you people are just not cultured enough.

Now that I have said my most honest piece, I shall now take my leave, good day.

...God save the Queen!

Let's just ban everyone. That way whenever America comes up we'll shrug and go spend time in Canada! ^.^
Moo?

On the one hand it was unfair that they were locked up but on the other hand they seemed like massive douches. I think I'll let this one slide.

While I do agree that the agents in those articles sound like humorless twats, I must stress that the only papers I have actually seen publishing an article about it is the sun and the daily mail.

See these links to understand why that makes me sceptic if you do not know what papers that is:

Agreed. Many of my fellow Americans don't realize that such "newspapers" are roughly the equivalent of our own sleazy tabloids like the National Enquirer.

I'll reserve judgment on this until I hear from a more reputable source.

Meh. Who cares? For weeks I have been saying we should firebomb the white house and set up a guillotine for bastard politicians in time square so if they want to ban me I could not possibly care less.
Hell if they sent me a note officially announcing it I would gladly frame it and put it on my wall.
Canada is way cooler and Mexico has hotter women. The US has nothing of real value.

Oh hey, another America bashing thread. This is new. Let's have some fun.

It's dumb to ban people over that crap. Hopefully it gets resolved.

I do have to say, this is coming from The Sun.

even still, and Im gonna catch flak for this, even if it is an overreaction, if you joke about that kinda stuff, and (and im gonna profile here) look like those two, I'd probably be a bit suspicious and pull you over to the side for a talking too as well.

Also the word is extradited... expedited is a form of shipping. We don't use expedited shipping on people, or that guy would've been here overnight ;)
Whoops, I got the two terms mixed up.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHA Fucking brilliant! I say we start a worldwide thing of tweeting about destroying the US. We shall use hash tags to make it easier for them.
