It's not that global warming isn't a problem, it's just not the end of the world. You simply have to look at the literal origins of species to realise just how bloodyminded life can be. Life won't end, it'll just get more the same as the species that can't stand the heat die.
Actually i looked and found that each time life nearly dies out then it comes back in a stronger more varied form of organism. Also humans have the intellignce to leave the silly people arguing in the fact of the oncoming tidal wave while the rest run for the hills; or in short we'll win out in the long run as a race.

Did George Bush want to kill off loads of cows because they kept farting?
Methane ALSO damages the Enviroment, but there isnt enough methane out there.
I spose if EVERYONE and EVERYTHING farted at the same time...
OMG!

*world explodes*

Basically, you can do your bit by HOLDING IT IN! Or corking your cows arse (if you have a cow, do it to your dog or cat instead if you dont)

if methane is bad, why hasn't congress pulled it's head out of it's ass yet. the first time my teachers said all that crap about it being a bad idea to run a car in a closed garage made me think, "wow the stuff coming out of cars is bad." and the nest day we learned that cars make greenhouse gasses. i put two and 2 together and got, um what was it again...... then the Whipped Cream can that fire balled when shot with a .22.... i learned this crap about 20 years ago. i mourn for my country. those assholes in charge of it need to - for lack of a better option - die peacefully in their sleep (cause their heads are all up their asses)

Greenhouse gasses cause the greenhouse effect?

NO WAY! i woulda never have guessed that.

It's amazing there are still so many ppl who dont understand the basics of the theory yet.
Probably because of crap like this

It's stupid. That's what I think. It's just another excuse for the government to regulate some more companies out of business or drive them to doing even more of their manufacturing overseas. It drives me crazy how politicians and beaurocrats talk out of both sides of their mouth. On the one hand, they promise to keep jobs in America on the campaign trail. Out of the other, they pass regulations that drive them out of the country.

Besides, there is actually proof that atmospheric carbon dioxide levels in this era are actually lower than they were prior to the last ice age, yet back then, there wasn't any industrial activity to blame it on. Hmmm? The whole "man-made global warming" thing is a bunch of rubbish.

One thing I read in that article: The buying and trading of "credits" for emissions doesn't really make sense... The same amount of gasses are being produced, but they are just being produced by different companies. Some companies can make money by selling the credits, but the total impact isn't really being reduced. Am I missing something?
The way it would work is that the government would create a supply of credits that's lower than what companies are currently producing, meaning that as a whole emissions would have to be reduced. Individual companies could choose whether they wanted to either reduce emissions further and sell their excess credits, or emit more and buy other companies' excess credits.

I guess.
Though I have never been one to support bandwagons and I doubt any major policy changes will occur after this aknowledgement.

actually, the U.S.A. government did something similar to this back in the uh... cant remeber the exact decade but I believe the law was the Industrial emission reduction act, which was intented more to decrease air pollution for health reasons, but still helped the environment. one of the class instruction videos we watch in biology Is about a journey to the arctic to examine the effects of global warming on the glaciers, there is one point where a scientist pulls a large plug of ice out of the glacier, and he can actually point to the exact layer where the IE act went into effect. It goes from dark grey and black to almost pure white.

Obama has said that he's committed to taking action against climate change, and this announcement is sort of a first step, but there's so much conflict over it from Congress and the auto industry/power industry that there's no way of telling how much is actually going to happen.

Its not a matter of it could be wrong its a matter of if were right your fucked, what hand would you rather play? Its better to act in precaution and invest money into this than ignore it and frankly petty politics of one countries financial problems dont compare to the threat of global anihilation.

In Australia, our Prime Minister dclared himself "dedicated to fixing climate cahnge."One year later all we have is a government policy saying they will try to cut down on greenhouse gas emmissions by 5-10%.
Hardly worth the media attention it got.

Depends where you live. In the case of humans, you would see a mass migration from equatorial countries to ones that are more temperate.
