Their Cosistle:
An eerie world set in the dark undergrounds of early 19th century London. There is a group of gangs that span the area, each having their own central ideals and organization. Suddenly, a death of a British parliamentary leader is reported, with only the words "Cosistle" on the body, which is an acronym of all the separate gangs. An agent of the government, you are thrust into a private eye investigation, forcing you to track down thugs across the London undergrounds, gathering your information to account for whoever may be the killer. There are several ways to gain a reputation with the separate gangs (Some being allies, others are enemies)and this rep can help assist or hamper your path with the investigation. The plot widens as conspiracy opens within the government: was it truly a Cosistle plan, or a French assassin? Examples of estranged plots go something like:There are links to this gang, which had a deal with this company, which leads to another dealing, but the company denies these claims. You must trust your intuition and follow those, even if their morals may not suit your likings. Each time you play, the set of events and the evidence will be re-arranged for re playability.
Now I want this to actually come out...

Hmm, lets see. ..."Poilan cats"

...It's a game where Simaese cats have to take over the world. You play as Poilan Cats, the leader of the Kitteh! Resitance and you must force the humans into surrendering the world using cute kitty eyes, furniture clawing, furballs and just being incredibly cute. As you level up, the powers become more effective and you are soon sent out to make the world leaders step down. And of course, there will be a stealth level shoe-horned in, as well as a timer, QTE's and escort missions.
sounds like an indie game to me but one which you would have to play for the ridicules-ness

No catchpha currently, so I'll use one I got earlier.

"Take a Survey" - A browser-based flash game, this first person shooter pits you against popup windows that promise, "A Free iPod Touch for 15 minutes of your time!" Shooting them down as they appear, each window has a chance to drop a power-up based on the spam that appeared in the window:
-Improve your Credit Score: Gives you a discount when buying upgrades.
-2" in 2 weeks!: Increased accuracy for a certain amount of time.
-You've Won a Free [popular electronic device]: Grants one grenade.

There are some great ideas here. Could you imagine a game company that only pulls random captchas as game names and building on them?

Noutong Jowed

Right, first I looked up what those words meant, then:

Somewhere around 3000 AD; Noutong is the name of a bell in mid-southern Africa, one that has stood silent for centuries due to a gaping hole in the atmosphere (no atmosphere, no sound). It is perched at the very top of a massive layered city, whose upper reaches were abandoned for just this reason. On the first day, a vaguely orange-tinted haze begins to fill the sky. On the second, it thickens and people hear the tolling. The bell is ringing. As the haze becomes ever thicker, the bell becomes louder until it can be heard throughout the city. Eighteen times, once every half second repeating every sixteen minutes (this is very important mechanically). On the third day, they came. Insect-like metal beings that appear impenetrable from the top, their shells seeming complete, but by flipping them over, it is revealed that they are paper-thin. They are only the shells (with no underside).

You play as Aluoch Michieka (did about five minutes research on that one, supposedly Kenyan of the Luo tribe, but may not be. If it is not, someone please help me find a better pair of names.), a gangster living on a lower level of the city that suddenly gained the ability (after the bell started ringing) to control the vibration of molecules (i.e. transferring energy around). She can make things freeze, melt, evaporate, condense, combust and (with massive amounts of energy) create orbs of plasma, as well as move things around. Now, any reasonable gangster would use this newfound power to wreak havoc on the city, but there's an alien invasion going on.

You play in the third person. Your powers allow you to jump higher, temporarily swim through air, walk on water/through land, as well as all the aforementioned terrain destruction-based powers (though they work on human enemies as well). You would store them up in a form of mana bar and using powers would consume points (justification: you have to store up energy inside and around you before releasing it in an invisible beam, thus you must see something to hit it). Perhaps, as an added challenge, if the bar gets too high, you evaporate. Likely these powers can be upgraded. If you time your power use just right (i.e. exactly on the tolling of a bell) orbs of plasma appear (well, change state) in random dots all around the spot you're pointing at. You're immune to them, but it wreaks havoc on whatever's around. Mostly, it will look like a flash of bright orbs and lightning, then everything they touched is severely burned.

You have cybernetic parts, which allow for the use of other powers, probably robot-hacking and conventional weapons are available, too. Your cybernetics can also be upgraded.

I'm sure the odd parcour section might make things even more interesting.

Now you are an awesome god, so what's wrong? Your powers don't work on the aliens (plot point), and they work too well on everything else. The game gets its difficulty because of the aliens. They can only be killed from the underside. Gameplay largely revolves around flipping, tripping and generally doing whatever possible to put the aliens' insides within attack range, then unloading with your future guns. Also, nobody is on your side. People will fight the aliens, some will fight each other, but if they see what you can do, you become the greater threat (or sometimes not).

The goal is to reach the top of the city and take down the aliens, though I really need some time to think up a full plot. Either the world will be open or played in a bioshock-like progression.

Environment style: Neo-environmentalism? Lower levels: black or grey mundane (modern) architecture. Mid levels: Sand brown and lighter grey rounded architecture (domes, domed pillars and disks). Upper levels: Gleaming white/gold future-y buildings. Everything is built into trees or the round in flatter forms.

Now I kinda want this to happen. If ever I manage to get a job in video game design, I'll do this more often for brainstorming purposes.

sounds good but a bit much maybe remove the robot arm and the parkour and instead have puzzles to be solved with your power.

I was thinking that, too. But then again, if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing.

I can see a problem with the puzzles, though. You can change anything that's not alien, meaning it would only work in sections where the aliens had taken over completely. That would mean the puzzles would likely be thrown in later on in the game seemingly out of nowhere.

But perhaps I could make it work...

Look what I got. Another Captcha! Hachubse nothing... give me a minute to figure it out

Massive Edit: I got it!
Hachubse isn't a word. Hachibuse is a mountain in Japan, so I'll go with that.

Alternate history game. (year: 1863, say)

What I don't like about the chinese empire is that each dynasty sought to erase the last. They were trading with Australia and Norway, then someone came in and burned everything.

What if they kept that trading empire and proceeded to dominate on an even larger scale than the british empire?

You are nobody. Absolutely no-one. You live in a city at the foot of a mountain (Hachibuse) and witness the oppression (perhaps are part of it) of the Japanese at the hands of their conquerors. You might be Chinese, you might be Japanese, you might be from somewhere else. You might be male, you might be female. You play in the first person. You aren't even featured on the box art. You are more ambiguous than Gordon Freeman. All you really know is that you spoke up, and now you're imprisoned.

Did I mention you're a vampire?

Someone offers you a gift, for nothing in return (except your memories and voice). You take it and escape. Killing spree.

No mirrors, no sunlight, etc.

The game revolves around stealth kills, sneaking around the city after dark and looking to take down the establishment. Although you could go rediscover your humanity, you don't care. You have one memory and it is hatred. Of course, you will, but you don't actually seek it out.

The mechanics revolve around stealth kills and planning your paths so that you get shot at the least.

Also the bloodlust bar.
As it drops, heat vision erases normal vision and begins to blur. Eventually, it becomes difficult to tell friend from foe, and if it drops too low, you run to the nearest NPC and attempt to kill them, via the most direct root (possibly taking you into the line of fire). Killing and draining blood is the only act that replenishes it.

Sorry for the late edit, had to be somewhere.
