Users Like Google+ More Than Facebook

Perhaps it's because the morons haven't migrated over there yet.

First, there was Friendster. Then that website was crap and people in the know moved to MySpace. Then Fox bought MySpace, and this dude from Harvard made the Facebook and everyone went there. Then Google got pissed there was an aspect of the internet that didn't have their name on it and made Google+ with a better user interface and system of separating audiences for your musings and baby pictures. But no one went over to Google+ and the critical mass of people seemed to stay with Facebook. But the cracks are beginning to show. A new study released by the American Customer Satisfaction Index says people who do use Google's social service enjoy it more than users do Facebook.

Last year, Facebook scored 66 on ACSI scale but dropped to 61 in the 2012 report. In contrast, Google+ debuted on this year's ACSI report with a score of 78, matching that of Wikipedia. Behind them in the website user satisfaction spectrum are YouTube (73), Twitter (64), and Pinterest (69).

"Facebook's drop coincides with the release of its Timeline profile, a significant change to the look and organization of its pages," reads ACSI's report. "Users complain that they cannot opt out of the new profile design. The big drop in user satisfaction - coming on the heels of Facebook's somewhat disorderly IPO - doesn't bode well for reversing the company's sliding stock price."

People complaining about the most popular thing out there is nothing new to gaming fans, but the drop in Facebook's usership may mean that some people are fed up and moving to other sites. According to stats on Socialbakers.com [http://www.socialbakers.com/facebook-statistics/?interval=last-6-months#chart-intervals], Facebook has lost 1.7 million users from the United States in the last six months. Considering the huge number of people that use the social networking site, 1.7 million is a mere blip, but the news sure doesn't help the stock go up after the meteoric IPO.

I'm not sure what all this means, but I wouldn't mind Google+ getting a larger share of the market. Elements of the tabletop design community shifted to Google+ when it debuted, and the presence is still strong there due to the ease of setting up video hangouts to play RPGs over long distances. I'd like to be more involved with Google+ but checking Twitter, Facebook and Google+ seems like an extremely inefficient use of time.

In before 'Google is Skynet'.

All seriousness, I've never particularly liked Facebook, the whole thing just felt rubbish. Google's products are usually pretty high quality, so frankly I'm not surprised people are more satisfied with it.

How completely arbitrary. What are these "statistics" supposed to prove? I've never been keen on the ACSI, mainly because quantifying customer satisfaction into numbers is useless to prospective customers at best and open for abuse at worst.

To be honest, I still quite like Facebook, but that's because I haven't switched over to that moronic Timeline thing. As potentially dangerous as Facebook is, as long as there is some competition the evil they could be responsible for is diminished to the point of non-existence. They wouldn't dare step out of line now. They're being compared.

For my buck, I wouldn't let Google have any more power than it already has. Chrome? What's that? Ha!

Am I the only person who actually likes Facebook Time-line and got it voluntarily? I have seriously never understood the issues with it.

I also changed volountarily, but not because I liked it. I just like to fuck with the "BRING BAK OLD FAESBOK!"-crowd.
More on topic: I'm not changing to Google+, because I don't want to set up a new profile somewhere else when I'm not really using Facebook for much anyway.

I don't think anybody should be surprised. After all, a lot of people USE facebook, but not a ton of people actually LIKE it.

That said, how much people 'like' a business is meaningless. Nobody is on record anywhere as 'liking' Taco Bell, but that doesn't stop them from making tons of money from everybody.

The thing that drives me (and I think a lot of other people) so crazy about Facebook is that they seem to be fighting a war against showing things in the order they happened. First with "Top stories" (and they still won't let you set "most recent" as a default), and then with Timeline and its seemingly random left/right sides for things... it's way too easy to miss things that you may well have wanted to see. YouTube is the same way lately (Highlights vs Everything), and that change was not well received there either.

Facebook, take note. If you wanna keep customers, let them decide for themselves what they wanna see and how they wanna see it, and SAVE THE SETTING.

P.S. Thanks

Eh, with Facebook people were bound to get pissed off. It has so many users and you can't please all of them, not to mention the timeline was just a stupid idea that no one liked.
However I think the bigger google plus gets, the more likely it is that its overall user satisfaction will drop as well.

I stopped using Google+ when I found out they only had about 20 games & would maybe only add 2 more a year. Casual games are (IMO) the reason Facebook is popular & the only real reason to use it.

The problem with FB isn't that it changed its UI. The problem with FB is that it simply [em]does not[/em] respect the privacy of the user...at all. With FB's constant revisioning of its "privacy" settings that basically trick people into revealing sensitive, private information publicly, all under the guise of "social media," just so it can pharm personal info to third-party advertisers...the main purpose of FB isn't to socialize. It is to collect information and hold onto it permanently. Never mind the fact FB tracks people who haven't signed up for its service. It does so with personalized tracking cookies.

I mean...for f!ck's sake, if a user wants to delete his profile, it takes FB two g@ddamn weeks just to delete it. And guess what? If that individual [em]mouses over a "Like" button[/em], anywhere on the internet, the profile gets reactivated! No $hit!

So basically, if you want to delete your FB profile, you have to find the link that deletes your profile -- which is VERY well hidden -- and then swear off the internet for two weeks, just so you can preserve your privacy. Ridiculous!

Guess what? Google+ is just like that! With the inability to set up anonymous profiles, that new data aggregation -- oops! I mean -- social networking site is just as guilty of surveillance as FB. Although, it does it differently: It just doesn't allow anything to be done anonymously.

I'm glad I didn't sign up for Google+. First, there was MySpace, that pharmed out private information to third-party advertisers and data aggregation sites. Then, there was FB that did the exact same thing. Now, there is Google+ that basically said "f!ck it," and denies people the ability to do anything anonymously.

It seems like, to me, the internet is becoming more closed, and surveilled, every day. Tragic.

I would like to see Google+ take over facebook...No reason other than I want a change.
If any company runs the world I want google to do it :p
I trust them with my browser, I would like to use a nexus jellybean phone and I hear their search engine is pretty good too.

If more people I knew used it, I'd ditch facebook and go straight to Google+. Right now, that's not the case. I'm not a fan of facebook in the slightest, but it is helpful in keeping track of people.

I deleted Facebook a long time ago, I really doubt I'll return. I guess I consider this good news, it is still a very long way off but if Google+ became somewhat relevant I'd consider signing up for it. From the little I've seen of Google+ I think I'd enjoy it more than I did Facebook. A weird part of me kinda wishes Myspace was still popular, it was really good at creating drama and it was the big social network when I was in high school, so I think I just miss it nostalgically. I sorta like the idea of two social networks, Facebook is way too bloated, if Google+ just became a site that younger people started using, that'd be pretty cool, Facebook can keep the parents, teachers and bosses, it would be cool to have a social network where I could keep up with my 20something year old friends without worrying about hiding my posts from inquiring eyes.

I hate Facebook with a passion, the sooner I can get rid of it, the better. Unfortunately, Google+ isn't exactly the most active place so I'm stuck with Facebook in the mean time. I hope FB goes under soon (I get happier every-time I see news like this).

Hmm...

I'm seeing more and more people dropping out of facebook recently. Maybe there is some truth to these claims.
