First off, did you read the article I linked? If not, the basic gist was there was a scientific study that discovered hands free or not, drivers talking on their phones were 4 times as likely to get in an accident than drivers who were not talking on the phone? You can state your opinions all you want, but it always helps your arguments to find scientific studies to back it up.

Both Hands on Steering Wheel ≠ Paying Attention

I think the real question here is, are you an idiot? Seriously. Just because both of your hands are on the wheel doesn't mean any less likely to get in an accident.
Actually, it does. With both hands on the wheel, you have a better chance of maneuvering out of harms way if you need to, and your reaction time is generally faster because you're concentrating on the road.

I was referring to distraction in general
, by the way, not just driving one handed. God knows I do. No need to be a douche.
Second, did you even read 3rd rung's post? You know, the one you basically called him an idiot for writing? I can summarize it for you. "The problem with driving and talking on the phone is that people get distracted. Hands free or not , people are still distracted, so what's the point of hands free laws. What did the hands free laws solve?". The point he was getting at is that if we want people to drive safer, talking on the phone and driving in any form should be illegal. If what I've underlined in your quote above is how you feel, it seems like you and he agree...

Finally, regarding me being a douche, let me show you something. Here we go...

This. I mean, jesus christ, you might as well say "I drive with one hand anyway, so why can't I masturbate while driving?"
snip [http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/07/12/tech/main708253.shtml] This. I mean, jesus christ, you might as well say something with no evidence to support it. The problem with talking on the phone while driving is that drivers get distracted, not that they have too few hands on the steering wheel.
As you can see, I stole much from your original post, and I did it for a reason. It's funny how, if you erase the parts I copied from you verbatim, my post instantly looses all of its douchy tone...

Having a conversation distracts you and can cause accidents. Unfortunately CA passed a law to force hands free cell phone usage, which does nothing. Everyone knows it's stupid but the gov seems to be unable to pass a stronger law or oblivious to the stupidity of the current law (or perhaps they will strengthen the law over time).

The longest I will talk on a cell phone while driving is 5 minutes max. On the road, I want the conversation done quickly. All I need is the message. Not your life story.

You drive better drunk than on a cell phone.
Eh that's pushing it a little too far. You do know how many drunk drivers kill innocent people every day, month and year right?
"So, I'm drinking and driving tonight. I have a good reason though. How many people die beacuse of drink related problems each year in England? 20,000. How many people die of driving each year in England? 50,000 How many people in England die drink driving every year? 2,000. How many people die drinking and juggling whilst driving in England? 2. I'm not taking my fucking chances!"
