Just use the friggen guide! Its not like you're contemplating pressing a button that gives you a million but kills someone innocent. It doesn't even mean anything since you've beaten the game before already so its not like you're getting "fake gamer cred" or something equally juvenile and nonsensical for passing the game help.

Relax, the nerd cops won't come to your house and make you tell everyone though facebook with a gun to your head about how you used a guide to enhance your enjoyment of something and are therefore not a real gamer. The world isn't keeping track of cred and does not care. Cred does not exist.

I see no harm in it trying to fully complete a game. I take issue when... Scratch that. I personally don't like using walkthroughs, but for completion purposes, go for it.

You seem to be asking for confirmation that using a guide does not make you a bad person.

I'm here for you. You're a splendid person, guide or no.

I think most of us have used a guide at some point in our gaming history.

We've all played games that have hidden things we couldn't find and looked it up.

I don't feel bad when I have to use a guide because a lot of the time I've either not played the game in a long time and don't remember what to do or there are specific missable items in the game that I want to get. You shouldn't feel bad either for using a guide.

I had to consult the interwebs for one of the last puzzles in Braid's World 5 (I think 5) of Braid. And when I read what I had to do, it was so much easier than what I been trying for 20 minutes. It was the last puzzle piece I needed and I was going crazy.

Also I was stuck on 99% complete on Red Dead Redemption for a long time, finally consulted a guide for what I what missing and it turned out to be one bounty in one town in 'Mexico.'

So when I am completely stuck or out of ideas, I will use a guide. Shame on me.

How fucking dare you!

Using a guide? Using a fucking guide?! In a single player game? Entirely for your own enjoyment?

Sir, mere words fail to express the true measure of my disgust. Hand over your HARDCORE GAMER[sup][sup]TM[/sup][/sup] badge and never show your despicable face around here ever again.
Eham. Careful, make a few more posts like that and you'll need to put up a fence to keep the rabid fans away.

But yeah, guides, for your own fun? Unspeakable.

This is about all that needs to be said. Now if you'll excuse me I have a friend request to send out.

No. Never feel bad for using a FAQ or guide book. You're not cheating, you're not hacking, you're just consulting a guide.

Confession time! I used a FAQ to beat Zelda AND Zelda 2 the first time. I made up for it by not using the corner exploit fighting Dark Link...the second time...for most of the fight.

I'm far more lenient on myself when it comes to using guides. (I used to be a huge no, but that was when I was teen and I had time to burn lol, life, why you so busy?) I'm currently using one to platinum Atelier Totori and Atelier Meruru, just cause I know it's not something I'd be able to figure out myself. I've finished Totori myself 5 times, so using a guide now doesn't really seem all that bad... and Meruru three, man I love those games.

The only time I've used a guide/youtube videos without having previously finished the game was Catherine, cause those puzzles are a B**ch with a capital B and I was on Easy :O I later went to Very Easy cause I'm pretty bad when it comes to quick thinking puzzles.

What are people's opinions on using cheat codes? I wasn't aware they still existed until I got frustrated at Catherine, but I don't think I would use a cheat like invincibility in a game. I know a guy that uses cheats up the wazoo just so he can get a good gamer score. Kind of defeats the purpose of playing a game though, right?

Oh I also used a cheat to get Missingno in Pokemon Red. Phew it's good to get that off my chest...
