Using a gun one handed because you really need to

Being Australian as well, the "gun culture" thing is something very foreign to me. I read something once that said The Soprano's was pretty much the only show in TV and movies, that has got what happens when firing a gun right. In the first season Patsi Parisi's twin brother is 'whacked' by one of Tony's captains while sitting he was sitting in the passenger seat and the shots cause him to hold his ears in agony while he is firing.

In Season 5, Gerry Torticiano was 'whacked' in a restaurant in a meeting with Sil (this is the best whacking scene of the whole series imo). What happens is you see the delayed reactions of everyone at the table, because the shots happen faster than the sounds. While he is still being shot at, his gumar(escort) is screaming while covering he ears in terror. These are just a couple of examples I can think off the top of my head, Im sure there is more.

These may be myths as I really know nothing about guns so someone can probably correct me. I have also read that silencers really don't "silence" the gun at all. They just prevent muzzle flash, so their only real use would be for snipers at night. As for firing one handed, I think a handgun would be doable but not by someone who had never done it. I want to fire a gun just to see what its like really.

I've loaded a 9mm pistol magazine and a 22 magnum magazine one handed (I was at the local range with my friend, he bet I couldn't do it and of course I felt it necessary to prove him wrong, that includes loading the bullets into the mags).

It was difficult but I'm willing to bet that with practice you could be almost as efficient as with two hands, maybe something on your leg you can clip the magazine into for loading the bullets in? or your arm if it were still there (I'm assuming you meant the entire arm was gone so.. yeah) then just bring the gun over the mag, slide it in pull it off the thing(TM) load it with your teeth or knees and away you go.

Personally I'd go for a high calibre pistol in that situation, even the 50. calibre Desert Eagle can be fired with one hand so... yeah I don't see an issue there.

Beyond that.. I really can't answer your question cause half of it is weird jibberish about having weird things replacing the missing limb so.. yeah

I've loaded an AK-5 one handed. It's easy. Just slide it into your armpit and lock it with your arm and do your thing.

And at least that gun is way too heavy to fire one handed, not to mention the recoil. People always forget that these things weight a couple of kilos, and carrying it around, aimed and ready to fire will tire you out very quickly, no matter how buff you are.

I agree, loading pistol mags one handed is a pain, but doable. Manipulation (clearing a jam, reloading, that sort of thing) as well as firing of a semi-auto pistol one handed is tricky, but also very doable. I'd avoid revolvers personally, because you need your other hand to hold the open weapon while you manually place the rounds in the chambers, where as with a semi auto you can hold it 'twixt your knees or holster it backwards, depending on your kit. OP, or anyone else who is looking for some more in-depth info on how to do this (or anything else with a pistol honestly) should look up "Art of the Dynamic Handgun" from MagPul Dynamics.

One handed rifle use is...possible, but not something I'd recommend trying unless you're an experienced shooter. TBH, firing a rifle standing with one hand...I would be surprised if you get much accuracy beyond 50 yards, though I'm sure it could be and has been done. 50 yards is the rule of thumb limit of handgun effectiveness also, so IMO a handgun would be the way to go. Sure you could fire from a supported position like a railing or a bench or something and probably do quite well, but if you HAVE to fire a rifle at something with only one hand, chances are something else has gone horribly horribly wrong somewhere else already, and I'd personally recommend the good old GTFO

And as to the question about "silencers"...you're close, they don't totally silence a gun under normal circumstances (notable exceptions being the MP5 SD and the Russian VEPR, both of which were designed from the ground up for silent operation). They /do/ remove most of the flash and reduce the noise of firing a gun, normally by ~30 decibels. That still leaves a typical shot at over 100 decibels in some cases, so it's far from silent, but it won't blow your ears out or give away your exact position. If you want the "pew pew" you hear in most movies and games, that requires a suppressor (silencer) and using sub-sonic ammunition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEoh-MmpJNM sums it up. (yes that rifle would be a LOT louder without the suppressor)

Oh come, on, everyone knows that. It went on to be the major inspiration for DOOM (along with Aliens, they wanted to make an Aliens game but couldn't, so took inspiration from that and the Evil Dead movies), and so lies at the very beginning of FPS (if you discount Wolf3D).

Really a low caliber SMG with an eotech sight and a shoulder strap sounds like your best option. Eject mag 1 handed, load mag one handed, and pulling the bolt shouldn't be an issue either. It is light enough to fire one handed (depending on the model), but you will want to stick to single fire not FA.
