Even though I'm half-Finnish and live in Tornedalen, my Finnish is absolutely horrible. This is one of many things I plan to correct in the futue.

Sometimes, I only use them when with people who wouldn't mind if I did though, I don't seek to offend, and I usually only do it when pissed off about something or other.

I swear a lot when I'm angry, but otherwise I try to refrain from using them. Not cause I care really, but some of the people I hang with would get offended...

Wait, says who?
The same people who decided fuck, ass, dick, piss, shit are "bad". You kind of are touching upon my point. They are just words. We arbitrarily decide if they are taboo or not.

As flawed as Stephen Fry's argument is... yours isn't any better. "I'm smart and don't curse and the people around me are dumb and curse" is not a proof of how cursing is a sign of little intelligence.
I know a lot of people who do swear a lot and at the same time are very intelligent people with vocabularies you'd think they did nothing their entire lives besides studying rhetoric. How does your proof now prove me wrong? ;) (Please note that the choice of vocabulary in the last sentence was intentional)

I prefer not to swear a lot. I try not to if I can help it. It makes me feel more refined. Plus, it's annoying hearing someone swear for the sake of swearing.

i rly see no harm in it. Its a good way to vent. ya i will get offended when people yell and curse at me, not because of the language tho. Plus have you ever heard someone yell and demean(sp?) you without any curse words or substitute curse words....that is scary.

I swear mainly because I was brought up in a household where EVERYBODY swore, so it was normal. Though I do stop when I'm around my parents and religious friends. But other than that I swear all the time, because they're words just like the ones I'm typing with, no?
