Tig watch the woman fell. He smile at this and watch her get up. He turn around and heard Roscoe asked a question. He waited to see what would happen after Rayai told who she was. Tig wonder if he would believe her or not as he look at ryan to see his reaction to all this and Aeryn.

Aeryn stared at the floor while everyone around her spoke or moved around. She held her music machine tightly. She wasn't used to being around so many people. She was beginning to get anxious and began to blink more and fidget.

"Well I really must be sitting down."

Aeryn quickly took and seat and sighed.

Too many people, too many bright colors...

Roscoe eyed her for a moment, he felt a little nervous to her open gesture. He wasn't very used to physical contact, although, he had never been touched by another person in his life. (Aside from the time he was rescued from that collapse on the third transport, he had to grab someone's hand then..)

Thinking that he should acccept this gracious token of greeting. Unsure for a slight moment, he nearly offered the wrong hand, but pushed the other one forward when he noticed.

He shook her hand... and released.

Nodding to her, and stuffing his hand in his pocket, he asked a few questions.

"So, Ms. Colton is it? What is your task on this voyage then?"

Midway the question, he gave himself a mental slap. What else would a botanist be doing? Outwardly, he winced his right eye and gave a light frown. He realized that was also a mistake, she might take that the wrong way.

Open mouth, insert foot.

What Roscoe had said and did with his face posed some confusion for Rayai. She paused a moment before answering, "I can't answer that question."

Roscoe knit his brows, was it something he said? Or did? Maybe putting his hand in his pocket after touching her hand? That could be construed as insulting, he supposed.

Maybe his tone? No, people often commented on his inflection, or lack there-of.

His expression. That was it.

Mental gut punch.

He quickly realized his current expression didn't seem very good-natured.

He smiled, a light smirk, to the best of his ability.

"Well why's that? Everyone has an answer."

Eryn turned and saw everyone was still in the room talking. She turned and looked at her music robot. It had broken because of her rushing to turn it off. She sighed and pulled out her tool kit that she kept in her bag. Quickly and efficiently she fixed it.

With a smile on her face she spoke quietly to herself.
"There all better."

He watch them talk. He started to believe that coming here is a good idea after all. He look at the old man, he seem to have lost his emotions completely or that is what it seem to Tig. He started to leave.

Roscoe, starting to feel nervous, desperately searched for an excuse to leave. Despite his position, although an admittedly undeserved rank, he had no notion on how to lead. But he was experienced at least, being their senior, he could at least pretend.

Pulling his hand from his pocket, using it to flatten the creases in his jacket, and spoke to Rayai.

"Well, you can't keep it from me for long. I have important matters to attend to. Excuse me."

His pace quickened the further from her he went, and he felt something in his guts rise. Shutting the door to his room, he dimmed the lights, and began to check the room.

It was a tick he developed for his precious trinkets back home.

Home...

Driving the thought from his mind, he accessed the computer interface. As Captain, he had a duty to perform.

He ran and re-ran diagnostics for every sectioon of the ship at least twice, and at most eight times. He checked the dossiers and status of every crew member several more times before returning to the diagnostics.

If he discovered something wasn't right, he immediately set drones to repair them.

Feeling a bit more calm, he went through the mission parameters.

And he burned with rage anew.

They stole from him, everything, and what was he getting for this? He read the fruits of their task to come with a gross malice.

"They will be rewarded with their new experience."

It was a poor reason to take an unassuming, passive man and force him into a position like this for an indefinite amount of time.

But he realized they had no way of knowing how he felt...

He altered their course. Just out of spite.

This country, the outsiders called it Oman, was their new course.

OOC: Nice opening choice, will be fun to try and interpret Middle Eastern beliefs. And BTW, farm analogies are hard

Ryan just started at the interaction between Rayai and the apparently leader of the expedition. It was kind of like watching a rooster trying to knock one of the hens out of the way of the feed, and getting pushed aside.

"Huh, didn't even get time to give him his thingy," he noted. Turning to the two women still in the hallway, he asked, "So......anyone have any luck finding anything to do on this ship? I was too busy looking for the thingys that I didn't really notice what all there was on this boat."

OOC: Especially the futuristic version of the Middle East. We'll all probably have to collaborate on this to make it work... also, I think Roscoe's going to become alot more isolated and distant from here on out. You guys can go ahead and... do stuff. I guess.

Eryn got asked a question. She jumped as she normally did when people spoke to her. She turned and faced the man. She shook her head.

"Nope..I've just been sitting here..I'm sorry..."

The rest of Eryn's words turned into mumbles and could not be distinguished. She got up and looked around. She asked a question. Asking no one in particular.

"Does anyone know when we will arrive at our destination?"

"I don't mean to come off rude or pushy, but would it be possible for me to lie down on someone's bed for a little while? Sitting in a barrel for roughly four to five hours really makes one tired and sore." Rayai aske Tig and Ryan, being that they were the only two left in the storage room.

As Rayai and Tig went off towards his room, Ryan gave his most frequent answer to Aeryn's question. "I dunno," he said, a shrug in his shoulders. "Although, from the looks of it we're going pretty fast. I can't even see Völuspá anymore."

Aeryn nodded her head. Looking around she saw that Tig had gone to show Rayai where she could rest for a bit.

"So..what are you here for Ryan?"

Tig showed her to his room. He opened the door and allowed her to walk in while he stood at the entrance. The room was fairly small. There was a standard sized bed, a night stand, a desk and a few overhead shelves and cupboards for storage. There was enough floor space for about three people standing up.

To Rayai, the bed looked inviting and comfortable. She turned to Tig, "Thank you, Tig. I appreciate this gesture very much."

"You are welcome, I am sure you would have done the same to me" He said as he started to leave, thinking she did not want someone around to watch her sleep.

"Well, you can probably tell I ain't here for my brains," Ryan replied as he sat on top of Rayai's now unoccupied barrel. "Basically just grunt work. Someone's gotta lift equipment and haul and set up stuff. I guess that's me. I'm good enough at it by now, it's all I did really out on the farm along with looking after the animals. Pretty much won this role in the lottery they did the week before. Course I thought it was kinda funny. My buddy Rory filled out like 100 ballots and I only bothered putting in the one and I still got picked before him."

Finally getting a chance to stretch her muscles and rest her nerves, Rayai shut the door as Tig left. She sat down on the bed, removed her shoes and lied(sp) down. Almost instantly, she fell asleep.
