I would never have guessed, but it seems that Vaas Montenegro, the villain from Far Cry 3 is the sexiest male video games character.
How I got to that conclusion you ask ? Well I've been playing Far Cry 3 and thought of searching for him in youtube and facebook. When I got to some videos about Vaas on Youtube,I noticed some comments from women really showing their appreciation and liking on Vaas.

But only a few days later, today I did jumped to the conclusion. So I decided to search for Vaas at Facebook, and found some pages and people profiles. Not only there are far many more female fans and friends of Vaas in pages and profiles than of other profiles and pages made for video game male characters, but in most of them,Vaas's women fans and friends are the majority and outweight male fans.

He has more female fans than anyone else!

It seems that Vaas Montenegro is for female gamers what Lara Croft have been for male gamers in the 90s. A sex symbol of video games.

I'm surprised to say the truth, but I'd like to hear some views on that, especially from female gamers, here on the Escapist. What do you girls think about Vaas ? You find him attractive ?
You like his looks,or is it his character,or a bit of both ?

That, my friend, is the definition of insanity.

Seriously, the guy's a psychotic killer who buries people up to their necks in the sand while torturing them with electricity, tarantulas and urine. Also, he killed the player character's brother among other wicked nastiness. Did I mention he was insane?

I guess the promo posters of him do more to beautify him than give him an aura of madness.

Now, all I know of him is what was shown in the Zero Punctuation and Unskippable episodes, but isn't he monstrously evil? And kind of insane? He looks like the kind of guy who doesn't find sex fun if the other person isn't screaming, struggling or bleeding.

I'm not a female gamer, but he's not my type. The haircut is very unappealing, he looks like he's in his mid to late thirties (I'm not into older men at all), and even if I knew nothing about him, he still looks pretty aggressive and threatening (which are major, major, major turn offs. I can find older guys like Hugh Jackman attractive, but not when they look threatening).

So yeah, he does nothing for me. He even repels me, a little. Now Jason on the other hand, before he goes batshit crazy (according to Yahtzee)? Now we're talking.

I think the reason some women find him attractive is because he is depicted as a masculine and an "Alpha Male",and he is actually of the few alpha male game characters that are believeable and could exist. Sure the fact that he is a pirate who kills and slaves people mean he is a bad guy,and he is also some kind of paranoid. But I guess it's a combination of his courage and general "alpha-ness" that perhaps attracts female fans. In the game he is presented as being one of the most courageous, masculine and "alpha" males as any other. A badass. In front of him the protagonist Jason is depicted as a "pussy",and Vaas even calls him "Snowwhite".He is the bully kind of guy.But he is made to look a cool bully.Perhaps evil and crazy, but still a courageous badass.
But I wondered if that's what's it,and I'd really like to hear opinions about this aspect of him.

I'm a lesbian, so I guess my opinion isn't very valid here. Even if I was into guys I'd rather find someone a little more stable, you know? I deal with enough insanity in my life as-is.

Have a look at what I've found:
Brace yourselves...

p.s. there is some more suggestive and explicit groupie fanart that I don't post here fearing I might get a warning or something.

As much as I think he's a brilliant character I've never really thought of him in that light. Then again A) I'm a straight guy and B) I killed him before stockholm syndrome set in.

He's cool though, exceptionally cool character so perhaps theirs something in it.

Also fun fact, this was going to be Vaas:

I think it's because he's actually physically attractive. I've seen a gay male say he's gorgeous in a not-ironic way. So yeah.

...if you say so.
He is kinda attractive (not the amazingly so and I'm talking about looks only) and he's interesting I guess but HELL NO. Then again I'm always out of the loop when it comes to these sorts of things. If a male character is attractive my reaction is usually "oh hey he's hot...moving on" and then I completely forget about him 2 minutes later.

A lot of girls I know find it fun to analyze characters so fictional guys with issue tend to pretty popular. I like to do that too but don't really tie it up with attraction. I grues if your going to draw sexy fan art it would be of memorable characters you like even if they aren't sort of person you would ever want to go anywhere near. That is likely a big part of the reason why Vass is popular.

Although don't think that because someone thinks he's hot they would actually want to date someone like him in real life.

I recognize the artist in the 3rd picture, she(?) gets front page on deviant art quite often and draws a lot of stuff like that. Mostly the Assassins Creed guys.

Yeah, I frankly think that people should start seriously dialling back a little on the villain admiration. I get it, we're all very grimdark, cynical, jaded and that makes us "cool," but we're losing a little perspective and blurring the line between "I say he's sexy as a joke" and "I say he's sexy for realsies."

Liking villains because "dark and edgy" is the new black is all well and good, but we really should remember that villains, in general, do really horrible things.
to be fair realtiy and fantsy are very different htings...from a fantasy perspective I can kind of "get" the Vaas thing even if I do find it odd

sexy times aside I actually agree in I think people admire villans just a little [i/]too[/i] much,I reject the Idea that good=boring

of coarse that could also be a result of good writing..making vilans well rounded with understandable motivations...and then you get the Joffreys, so theres more to it than evil

These are probably the same women who buy Twilight and 50 Shades books, and who write fan fiction eroticising this or that character being brutally raped by big bad Alpha males. You can pretty much assume that's a clear-cut case of internalised misogyny.

Shock horror. Women like to masturbate too? And sometimes to questionable characters/content? The world is fucking over. Oh, what have we become?

Seriously though, psychotics aside, he's a well built character and a lot of girls like the islander look he has going on. It's most likely just a physical attraction they have to him. That or it's a bunch of teens enjoying their attraction to villains phase.

Men fap to weird shit too.

Oh, I definitely agree that fantasy and reality are not the same thing, but even in the context of fantasies, what the hell kind of fantasies are people having that involve vicious, violent psychopaths? Unless they are acting like ordinary people in the fantasy (in which case, they presumably like them for reasons other than their crazy evilness), it strikes me a bit disturbing that people would fantasise about someone who would most likely victimise them horribly.

I suppose it IS possible that villains are better written than protagonists, as protagonists are often blank slates for people to project on, but that seems to be a problem to solve, in my opinion.

On the box art, he looks very similar to a friend of mine, facially. I don't honestly think he's all that attractive, regardless that I'm male. He looks like one of those creepy fellows you'd see hanging out near an alleyway that I could deliberately walk a 15 minute detour to avoid.

I don't find it at all surprising. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DracoInLeatherPants]

Seriously. Sephiroth. Edward Cullen. Draco Malfoy. Arthas. Saren. Loki. Jack Sparrow. Seto Kaiba. Light Yagami. Lelouch Lamperouge. Vegeta. Anyone played by Cillian Murphy. The Joker.

Not a new phenomenon.

I don't follow this post at all.
It was a joke. I hypothesised that the gay dude in question had daddy issues for saying Vaas was gorgeous in a non-ironic way. It's probably an exaggeration, since Vaas is probably not 40 yet, but it's not uncommon for people who prefer aggressive Alpha males to have daddy issues.

Though I'm probably wrong. That was the joke. Albeit not a funny one, now that I've dissected it all over the floor.
