If I hear it's good I'll give it a watch. But judging from the trailer... meh. I'll be honest. The main thing putting me off is the visuals. It looks like a CGI mess. It's like they took every graphical effect they could think of and threw them at the screen and it's really jarring.

Would you still care about the visuals if the movie was completely animated with no live action actors at all?

I think that would be better. The mix of really obvious cgi with actual people is what I find so jarring. If it was all CGI animated then it would fit together a little better.

But I do want to emphasise that it's not the CGI which is making me hesitant. But if a movie with bad effects is good, then its good. Just with bad effects. Most of my favouite movies are quite dated.

Looks good, but generic. Big epic space setting and a bad guy to defeat, pretty much sums it up imo.

It looks like another one of those movies like Jupiter Ascending or John Carter of Mars. A massively expensive sci fantasy "epic" that uses incredible amounts of CGI to little effect beyond eye candy, and has a complicated yet stupid plot, which will make headlines after its opening weekend for losing over $100 million.
