I was ninjaed for the portal comment >.<

Also, I have developed a much keener sense of environment and detail after years of looking around for loot and puzzle keys.

I have learnt that the British army is wrong and that you should always remove your finger from the trigger and complete the entire reload drill of an L86 and/or L64 (Enfield) with your right hand. It's strange that that should happen ingame as you shouldn't move the right hand at all during reload.

Press X not to die.

Also, that all people with the name "Bishop" in games are evil. That one guy from L.A. Noire is a pedophile, and the one from NWN2
Is a treasonous scum-bag who trys to kill you
Don't you think the LA Noire bit should be spoilered? I know I didn't know that until reading your post.
It is pretty obvious he is a pedo. You catch him at a childrens playground and he doesn't hide it.
Ah, but I hadn't reached that bit and so didn't know that.

I'm now prejudiced and my testimony and evidence gathered by me may be biased and so should be dicounted in an investigation.

RPGs are a great way to increase your vocabulary. When looking over a word list for the GRE, I was sort of surprised about how many of the words I knew because of various RPGs I had played. Who says video games never teach you anything?
This has happened to me so many times. Between MtG, D&D and video games, I recognize tons of random words. It blows me away how much of that vocabulary I take for granted and assume everyone knows:

"What do you mean 'what's a paladin?!?!?'"

If you die you instantly come back to life at a point you have been in the past.

EDIT: Hand-eye coordination and reflexes deserve honorable mentions.

I've learned...

Good reflexes and the ability to strategize within a small amount of time are your best friends for anything.

Being a team player will save your ass more often than not. (RPGS)

Hiding when in battle is an effective strategy. (RPGS, FPS)

Patience will keep you in a game. (General)

And I think my vocabulary expanded with some games. I'm pretty sure I learned a number of words from KotOR.

Don't fuck with lava.

Watch out for bush monsters, and keep your valuables inside.

If you ever find yourself stranded outside, be sure to build a house out of dirt and sand so you can wait until morning.

Try to not punch trees down, axes take alot less time.

If your injured, eat a porkchop. If its a dire situation and no cooked chops are to be had, eat a bunch of uncooked ones.

Always keep the lights on, the monsters can't appear inside your house if all the lights are on.

Gunplay and cover mechanics.

Statistical micromanagement.

Visual acuity and field of depth (considering I was 3 when I first started playing games they have had an impact)

Timing and reflexive skills

and an innumerable list of other skills and aspects.

Better living through simulation!

English skills, definitely. Reading and writing English every day for about three years while playing WoW really helped my English.

Metal Gear Solid taught us the value of stealth and that hiding under a cardboard box actually does work! Plus the third game taught us basic CQC techniques.

English skills definitely. Thank you RPGs. I still have much to learn though. Also my reflexes have improved and I'm much better at solving problems.

Yeah, as a WOW guild leader, typing skills, mediation, team building, and most of all, realising that people are more important than minor and temporary rewards. It's never worth screwing real people for a few points, and people that do, don't get to stay in a guild like ours :)

Persona series taught me that Mount Olympus Mons was the highest mountain in our solar system, and that thieves would try to rob you at 8am in the morning.
Mirror's Edge taught me to improve by using different pathways to get to a location.
Zombie games that gave me a twitch trigger-finger or punching a person that scares me on reflex.
Starcraft 2 taught me time-resource management.

The Total War games are an amazing source of information, believe it or not. Even if they can't tell you everything, they present an area of history in an interesting enough light that you'll want to learn more.
