I think this goes to show that if take a massive group of people and find the average opinion on broad categories, you get some pretty dull opinions. I'm not denying any of these are great games, but there's no surprise in hearing any of these. They're just the most popular games that everyone played and recognized, so they voted for them. Most people probably hadn't played a large number of the nominees and just voted for the one's they had played. Thus boring, uninspired choices. (Although the nominations were pretty dull as well.)

This is why people's choice awards are always boring and uninspired. You will never be surprised, pleasantly or otherwise, by an award chosen by 'the people', because taken as a whole, the people are really, really, BORING

I'll admit I couldn't really get into the sale this year. The entire thing kinda felt lifeless and dull. Last year's gingerbread Jake detective comic was fun to read and made me want to open Steam every day to read it. This year's sale didn't seem all that Christmas themed nor did it seem engaging enough. It just seemed boring.
