Don't worry, if it's Valve, it's gonna be like 3 more years. OR MORE!ravenshrike said:God DAMMIT this game better not be coming out in the next 6 months. I've got too much shit to play already.
But anyhows, the game is propably short as hell too!

meh at this point its not about innovation, it's a bout the story and gameplay, they didnt innovate after HL2 anyways with the 2 episodesUndead Dragon King said:"Guys like me" includes most of the gaming community. I'm not being unreasonable. Generally it takes a AAA developer (and YES, Valve is one) circa two years to make a great sequel, especially in a genre as straightforward as an FPS. Hell, even smaller dev teams sometimes need less time than that. Take Uncharted, for example.ResonanceGames said:After only four years, really? Guys like you are why we get yearly installments.Undead Dragon King said:Even if it's not trolling, I'm really past the point of caring about the Half-Life series by this point.
You kept us waiting for too long, Gaben. Mr. Freeman means nothing to me now.
Half-Life 2 took 6 years and it turned out fine.
It's been four years since the bite-sized add-on that was Episode 2. I may not be as big a Valve fan as you, but it will take more than that to revive the series for me that's been buried under the dust of waiting so long. It's already been seven years since Half-Life 2. And this is just at time of writing! Valve are infamous for their development time, but that shouldn't give them an unlimited development time allotment in my eyes. They can only put it off for so long before it enters the realm of absurdity. Really, besides Duke Nukem Forever, what's the most infamously delayed game in history that's already spawned internet memes?
Forgive me for being skeptical, but I'm not sure how much Valve can improve the FPS formula that they've got for Dr. Freeman. Valve may have opened the door for FPS experimentation, but with the glut of shooters on the market that have experimented with different engine and design concepts since Half-Life 2, I can see very little that Valve can innovate that hasn't already been done by someone else.
Seriously. It's a fucking t-shirt with a 3 on it. Thank you. Thank you for not being a Valve drone. I'm almost ready to weep tears of joy. Thank you for finally setting yourself apart from the legions of pathetic people who like reminding Gabe Newel how good he smells every time he farts.Kapol said:Honestly, I don't like the HL series anyways, so this 'news' does nothing for me. But seriously? This isn't even a rumor. It's just some random person wearing a shirt. Not a huge deal, and not something I would take as a sign of release. I don't mean to seem like I'm trolling, but this really does seem pointless to me.
HAHAHA oh man that was too funny"I did try to smother my face in his chest on the HL3 logo. He didn't even spoon me back. Jerk."
yeah but look at what happened to duke nukem forever. give a developer too much time and they'll start to get lazyVellu said:Valve is a good example why games should take forever to make. 5 years or a year *cough*cod*cough* is not enough.
so just because a shooter is old we shouldnt play it for the excellent, superb, and masterful storyline or the cool innovative physics puzzles along with the simple and fun gameplay style?Tin Man said:You guys know that half-life wouldn't even be good any more right? The gaming world isn't the same place it was a decade ago, and there have been a looooot of shooters since then. Just saying.
ill admit my language was exaggerated. but since when has needing to have a "realistic" discussion been necessary thing when talking about a video-game that wasn't involved in a supreme court case or part of bullshit slander on fox news. when i think half-life i think fun, enjoyment, and good storytelling, not whether it can compete with "modern shooters"Tin Man said:Keep it real dude, the only people that still actually play Doom are nostalgia fiends. It was a great leap forward in its day but that day is dead. Now, HL isn't in the same boat as Doom, but given the amount of sheer furour created over a t-shirt, you'd think it was a shirt showing the date of the rapture... But I think it best if we draw the line here. You used the words 'excellent, superb and masterful' in a row, talking about a story about aliens from another dimension brought here by one ballsy science maguffin. And see-saws. You just aren't ready for a realistic conversation about half-life 3 maybe not being the greatest thing that's ever happened. Or even a thing that will exist.javelinstark said:so just because a shooter is old we shouldnt play it for the excellent, superb, and masterful storyline or the cool innovative physics puzzles along with the simple and fun gameplay style?Tin Man said:You guys know that half-life wouldn't even be good any more right? i guess doom just stopped being good when other shooters decided to have better graphics
