I too expect it's too good to be true, but I had this ad show up on Facebook a few minutes ago:

The fact it's coming from the Steam store makes me mildly less skeptical. Hmmm...

Wow, that actually seems legit. of course, they could still mean "get a chance to test Half Life 2 Episode 3 some time in the year 2525".

It's obviously a scam, they could put "freeporn.titties.com" if they wanted to, or something along those lines. That doesn't have to be their website.

I agree, I mean, think about it, if VALVe wanted to test EPISODE COCKING THREE, they'd find much better ways of finding candidates (they'd build a giant testing facility underground, house a boat in there, clone Gabe Newell's daughter 5000x times, and let a sadistic robot make sure she tests Ep3 to its maximum potential, for maximum scientific results. I mean, right?).

I would have thought that this would be all over the steam forums... proceed with caution brother.

A Facebook ad? I don't think so. I don't care if it says it's from the Steam store. I don't trust ANYTHING I see in Facebook ads.

I can't imagine Valve would ever take out a Facebook ad looking for testers, if only because they never have done anything like that before, and with the amount of metrics they like to track outside of the game prior to release, they couldn't do it with people who aren't near them.

Definitely a scam.

Oh god, I take what I said back. Totally does not look legit at all.

Man, that game-testers.net website reminds me of back when I was young and stupid and desperately searching for a job and almost got suckered into a "get paid to be a secret shopper" scam.

The ad has store.steampowered.com mentioned on it despite not being affiliated at all with Steam or Valve. That's gotta be some kind of illegal.

You can tell G-Man is pulling his troll face. "Proooooblem?"

Both of them are.
