Valve Looking Into Getting Left 4 Dead Mods Onto 360

Valve doesn't want to leave console Left 4 Dead players in the cold when it comes to playing all the neat mods fans are whipping up for the PC, so it's considering ways to get the content onto Xbox Live for a price, of course.

Oh console players of Valve games. You don't have it very easy at all. Left completely out in the cold when it comes to Team Fortress 2, maybe not so much with Left 4 Dead but still forced to pay for content PC users are getting for free. Good news, though: Valve doesn't want you all to feel completely left out from some of the neat content being pumped out by users in the form of mods created with Left 4 Dead's authoring tools.

"One of the things I'm thinking about is how we work within that [Xbox Live] system and one of the things I'd like to do is to allow these modules that are being released on PC to somehow integrate with Microsoft's system," Valve's Yasser Mailaka told Official XBOX Magazine [http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=13640] UK.

Unfortunately because of the way Xbox Live works, Valve would have to ask for your hard-earned bucks in exchange for the content. But it wouldn't go straight into Gabe Newell's wallet. "But we're hoping perhaps we can shepherd the really popular campaigns onto 360," Mailaka said. "And you know, if they are a paid system, perhaps that could go back to the authors. I think that would be a great story."

It would definitely be nice, though Valve's filtering process would probably mean you wouldn't get some of the neater mods out there, like that Resident Evil mod [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/92542-Fan-Recreates-Resident-Evil-3-In-Left-4-Dead-Campaign] from a few months back.

Seriously that would make the $100AU price tag from over priced to under priced. The game would just never get old! (and i want to play that 'dawn of the dead' mod and the 'shaun of the dead' mod)

One step closer to the inevitable. While Sony makes a gaming movie player. Microsoft will be making the gaming computer..console.

If Valve figures this out, eventually it will advance and wont be something PC gamers will be able to truly hold over console players.
Though I hope a turn mods off feature is eventually added. I dont need peopel sniping me with sticky grenades... (like in Halo CE on PC)

That's a step in the right direction, Valve. As a representative of the console owners out there, I'd like to say "thank you".

While it's really hard for me to defend Microsoft for charging for DLC, especially when there is free DLC about, I do like Valve's tenative idea of finding some way to compensate the mod makers directly.

L4D just went from a "for $50, hell no", to a "maybe, once it drops to $30-$40".

The PS3 already does this.

OK I'M SORRY I BOUGHT A PS3 ALREADY

jeez...
While youve already been punished sufficeintly for a crime of say, "Buying and partially enjoying a wii" Size, the one you have commited cannot be forgiven until you realise the truth, then go out and buy an xbox.

On topic: THANK YOU VALVE!

Although, I would still like some more TF2 support, pl0x.

That update you release over the summer brought my hope back to life, valve, dont kill it again.

It is okay. Admitting your problem is the first step on the road to recovery. We are all here to help you along. XD

Anyway you know the first thing those dirty 360 owners will want is the nude mods. They're ours! That is one of the major advantages of PC. Keep your grubby hands off our fan made mods you bastards! >.>
There is no problem. I have a PS3 too but I never wanted L4D for a console because it's a Valve game and everybody knows that you play Valve games on a PC.

Hrm... If modders start making money for producing XBox content... I could see some ramifications for PC modding. Although, I suspect the market wouldn't sustain such large scale modding as goes on on the PC. If I want twenty mods right now, I download them. A console gamer will have to consider the extra price that goes into his already $50-$60 game.

So figure a company would charge. *sigh*
I hope that the console companies figure out a way to make DLC (good DLC) free.
Even Sony charges, it's ridiculous

That would be a hack, not a mod.
