I recently go The orange box and have fallen in love with team fortress and have seen that on the pc there are new maps new weps and new game modes but the proplem is that i own a 360 and Valve has not done this for my beloved 360 my friend told me that in august there would be a weapon update but i went on valves site and herd nothing about it so i lost hope in that.my question is why won't valve give the 360 or ps3 those updates.

oh and don't tell me to get it on pc cause my computer sucks

You need to learn to post pics...
anywho, they hate consoles. They really do, so you might see those updates.....at a cost in like maybe a year? Hopefully, if not then you can just forget it. Sorry.

The updates were going to be out at the end of the year (Aug 2008). Looks like they failed at that. Now they say they have something to announce about the 360 updates by the end of this year.

Apparently, Valve is going to release an update for the 360 and PS3 after all of the updates for the PC are finished.

They also struggle with RAM for the updates apperently, And since valve loves their particle effects in general im not suprised to see consoles having some issues with that if they would add even more.

its not valve's fault as I understand it, its microsoft's fault!

Also your paragraph was really difficult to read, I'm aware of the hypocrasy thank you!, also I should have capitalised valve and microsoft.

On topic:: I thought Microsoft can veto DLC; Wasn't there some trouble with the XBL version of portal, because of its size?

You bought a console port from a PC developer that openly states it's distaste for consoles, you expected anything else?

Also, Valve have explained a few things, like ho wMicrosoft won't allow them to publish the updates for free, major stumbling block.

If your pc sucks you should have spent the cost of that 360 on upgrades...

They've said it will be released on the 360 when they can shrink their code down (and probably finish the rest of the major updates), PS3 I'm not sure. Although they have said they muchly dislike consoles, I don't think they mind the 360 too much, because very little of it has to be re-written from the PC, unlike the PS3 versions.

It's really not Microsoft's fault. Valve want to add a significant amount of content to the game, plus add a load of balance changes, and they want to do it for free. Now, ever since the Marketplace came out, added content has to be paid for, that's how it's always worked, no other developer has any problems with it. Valve seems confused, they're talking about releasing a new disc instead of just doing it as DLC, which seems counter-productive to me. Trust me on this, Microsoft is definitely not to blame.

They kinda are if they are going to charge for content that a company is willing to distribute for free.

I'm not agreeing entirely with how Microsoft do things, it would be nice if they did some things a bit differently. My point is that MS have had these rules about DLC for years now and no-one else has ever had any problems with them, Valve just aren't thinking.

Problem is that Valve is going to have to pay to relase DLC on the consoles, even though it's supposed to be free. That's why they are trying to pack all the updates into one big package, instead of releasing lots of them.
Console bureucracy at its best.

It's not that i want us to pay for it, but that's just the way things work, it might have to happen. Most of the players would be willing to pay for it anyway, i know i would. The fact is that by trying to find a way past a system that isn't going to move, Valve are delaying the update release more and more. It was going to come out at the end of 2008. Now the only news is that they've found a way past the RAM issues and that they have something to announce at the end of the year.

I've heard mixed things about why, but there seem to be two main reasons there hasn't been a 360 update:
1) They can't do a bunch of free incremental updates either because of microsoft or deployment costs.
2) The additions to the game have made it take more memory and/or processing power than the game and/or console were initially designed for, so they will have to rewrite a bunch of stuff before making the patch.
With both of these in mind, they probably thought it best to wait until they're done with all the class updates before releasing a 360 patch.

And for PS3, well... Valve (or at least, Gabe Newell in particular) pretty much hates the console. Don't expect content for it.
