There is a reason that documentary won its division. The reason for the snack bar isn't just because Valve is awesome or because people are hungry (even though both of these things may or may not be true). Gaming studios like Valve and EA of LA do things like this for a particular reason (you should check out EA of LA if you think the snack bar was awesome). The reason they Do these things for their employees is because they have a hard job, not to mention the crazy hours they work (especially during pre-production wrap up). The snack bar or EA's game room are there to help improve morale (The starbucks in EA is solely for productivity purposes I think). By keeping your employees happy they won't quit on you during those stressful weeks/months/years, and with any luck they may decide to work harder for you.

It was apparently highly naive of me to think that I was the only one who had correlated Gabe Newell's considerable girth and this well-stocked snack-bar.

So...what the fuck do you put into a cookie that brings it up to 7000 calories? What purpose does it serve?

Because if there's one thing Gabe Newell knows, it's snacks. Treating your customers right, not so much. But when it comes to snacking, MAN, that Newell is fucking PRO!

This film gives me great hope for the emerging semiotic skills of today's youth. They really hit it with this one. IMO.
Man, if you think Newell knows nothing about treating customers right, you've obviously never listened to Valve's in game commentary. The lengths that they go to to make sure the player has a good experience is insane.

That certainly didn't make me want to give him anything, ever. And he's never ever tried to apologize, as far as I've been able to find. So, he earned that insult.

I don't really care how much his company falls over itself to undo his bad choice of words. I still use Steam and give the non-loudmouths at Valve due credit. Until they convince him to apologize himself, I give him zero credit for the customer experience.

Thanks for playing.
4 year old article followed by Gabe Newell cleaning up his act and giving a worth while version of Portal 2 on PS3.

Yeah, what an asshole. How dare he make mistakes and fix them.

How on earth do Developers at Valve come up with such complicated(yet still linear) levels when there are Cookies that are tasty enough to be 7000 calories? Perhaps that is why Episode 3 is taking so long: They are all bloated from Snacks

That has to be the most awesome thing I've ever seen.
Valve just got bumped up from #1 to...
Wait, what comes before 1? 0?

But where's the coffee? No programmer I know doesn't have a least a double expresso on the go at all times.
Did you not see that fridge? It was probably filled with more Coke than the actual Coke factory.

And I'm so happy I'm taking an ICT GSCE, I'd happily work for Valve..

Black hole or something? A singularity? I hope the universe gets right after that...

So I'm guessing Gabe has one of those cookies every 6 hours? Zing!

Unbeknownst to all the workers at Valve the cookie IS the cake

I have a lot more bad jokes but I'll giggle to myself later, so basically all the developers are there just for the snacks...everyone always stays for the food...always

Hahaha, how long have you waited for a snack-related thread so you could use that image?

Did I throw a wrench in your plans? Hahahahahahah!

OT: Well, it figures that the company owned by Gaben would have a gargantuan amount of food at it's disposal...

Okay, now, immature "Gaben's fat" joke aside, I'd love to work there. 7000 calorie cookies? Bet you anything that I can eat 10 of the things in one go!

Oh, and, "Consists approt"? Really, ReCaptcha? -.-
