Truly your ability to edit the text in a quote is astounding...

Bu i must ask... Exactly, how, do i fail? I merely informed you of what i knew, which, in hindsight, is a greater amount than you have shown. Now i am too a PS3 owner, and do feel for those who were not able to play the left 4 dead games due to Valve choosing not to release them on the system, but i still don't understand what you think Valve did to you personally.

...Please note the lack of being a dick in this post, easy to pull off, try it.

Because if there's one thing Gabe Newell knows, it's snacks. Treating your customers right, not so much. But when it comes to snacking, MAN, that Newell is fucking PRO!

This film gives me great hope for the emerging semiotic skills of today's youth. They really hit it with this one. IMO.
I've been with Steam for years and I have had no problems with my treatment from Valve. Easy and fair DRM and region locks. Convenient and powerful download, update and cloud synch services. Great selection of games of all kinds. Excellent deals and prices. Oh and rock-solid games. Man. Valve really know how to f**k the customer over.

Incoming Gabe Newell fat jokes...I AM TOO LATE

Also speaking of Gabe Newell why does everybody make fun of him and say he treats his customers badly? Firstly he has little to do with the information released with Ep. 2 (Doug Lombardi or whatever his name is does that) and also he has to wait for all of his team to be ready when making a game, he was busy with L4d2 and Portal 2 (which are both great games) he isn't your *****

Also Valve is a big popular company and they can't do EVERYTHING right, why do people have the need to villainize him and demonize him? He's a person and a game developer and I don't expect him to do everything I want like make ep. 2 when people want it
Because far too many gamers today have a false sense of entitlement. They are consumers, and Gabe and Co. are the creators of what they consume. It is very clear from Valve's products that they take pride in excellence. Their games and Steam services are rock solid. There are things not to like, but compared to what megacorps like EA or UBI are doing, Steam is amazing. Been using them for years with not problems. They even transferred my licenses between country zones when I moved, and they didn't treat me like a criminal when I asked about it (I'm looking at you Microsoft, in particular). The Portal 2 debarcle was exactly that, but on the gamers end. When a car comes out simultaneously with accessories, we don't demand that they be included free of charge. The DLC were ALL accessories. Same thing. It wasn't an abuse. There are plenty of clear abuses going on, but it's not with Valve or on POrtal 2. It was granting options to consumer. And DLC is almost always handled by seperate teams with seperate budgets and project plans. It is a falsity that day one DLC, or ANY DLC is somehow 'stolen' from the retail game. Sorry for the rant, but you pulled it out of me. I agree with you.

We all know when people present you with facts about something, pretty much proving your whinge fest based on absolutely nothing to be wrong(especially concerning you stance of them not treating its customers right, based on him not wanting to develop games on the PS3.)
the best thing to do is insult people who point these facts out to you.

Its pretty clear your a troll.

As a dev, I approve of this snackbar...

OK, so how many fellow devs are forwarding this to their colleagues right now?
... and how many are forwarding it to the management? :p

Gonna be linkin' this vid when I get back into work... might have to laminate my keyboard if I show it on my machine ¬¬.

Every time I see inside the Valve offices, I'm convinced Valve is the Pixar of the videogame industry. They're a business, sure, but from the inside they're more like some kind of... magical... dream factory... thing.

But I very seriously doubt Gabe solely drinks Diet Coke.

"Gabe.... Um... Can I have a Snickers bar?"... Gabe looks up from the snack bowl, chocolate covering his face.

"You can have whats left!"
He's not John Goodman...!

Explains why the people are so goddamn huge in that team. I gained a few kilo's just by watching this.

Seriously, does no one bring a home made meal to work anymore? Am I the only schmuck who prepares a bowl of veggies with chicken and some cheese sandwiches in the morning?

Fair enough. He's said he's sorry, so I'll let him be. It seems that others at Valve did explain it to him at some point.

(I will point out that he says I had legit beef until I saw his apology, BTW.) ;)
Insulting the structure of the processor on a games console you play is not a legit reason to call him a fatty.

Also, there's a grain(no pun intended) of truth in what he says, devs have difficulty with the weird powerPC architecture because it's different from the standard PC/Xbox architecture. It's just a nuisance, but at least it has more theoretical power than the xbox, amirite?

Don't need to take it personally, it's just a games console.

I'm not that impressed to be honest, looks very unhealthy. I did two weeks subcontracting at an Engineering firm a few years back, and I swear the people who owned it were Gods. The staff cafe was incredible, normally you think staff cafe and you get an image of microwave pies, day old sandwiches, and grungy burgers.

This place had daily "themes", for example Wednesday was curry day, and we're not talking cheap stuff, they had a deal with a number of local restaurants, their junior chefs would come in every week or so and make up big meals for the staff. I eat better, and for free, there then I have at some restaurants. Huge smorgasbord of different foods, even non-spicy, and vegetarian dishes.

I was sad to leave the place, that firm had some seriously loyal workers. A while later I heard their turn-over rate was one of the lowest in the state, and I can understand why. medium pay rate but good food, good conditions, on site daycare, community events for the workers (movies/etc).

There are more than 100 comments, so I'm going to assume at least half are fat jokes aimed at Gabe Newell, so I shall not add to them.

All they're missing is booze! Where is the Ballmer Peak Maintenance department?
