So, I was browsing the internet a few minutes ago, and I just happened to come upon this article, and I figured that I would share it with everyone.

http://classygamer.blogspot.com/2010/04/hardcore-gamers-unite-against-casual.html

I find it pretty amazing that someone actually wrote an article on Zynga beating NCSoft, Infinity Ward, Rockstar North, and Square Enix. And then having Valve triumph over them.

Also, what is your opinion on the article?
I thought it was nicely written and a very amusing read.

And another thing, are you glad Valve won? Or would you rather have Zynga win, if so, why?
I'm quite happy Valve won, it was very close, but we still won.

Oh I'm glad I stayed away from March Mayhem, so much mod wrath

No one wanted that, it would ruin the reputation of March Mayhem if it was given to a company that makes casual games

Thank god the company I'd never heard of didn't beat one of the foremost gaming companies in the world. Of course it'd already beaten a few of those already thanks to spam and greifers.

Valve won! Zynga and its followers have been defeated, cast back into the deepest depths of facebook. I only fear that the horror will return next year, and if it does... will we be able to stop it?

Lol i think the author of that article has a mind reading device. It pretty much summarized exactly how i felt about the Valve vs Zynga battle. This quote hit me especially hard since i said something very similar to no one inparticular when i checked to see who won that morning at work.

"We held the line, and now we get the spoils. Let us burn the virtual farms, crush the casual weaklings, see them driven before us and joyfully hear their lamentations. Victory is ours!"

That was a great fight. We beat Zynga and I even managed to avoid the banhammer :)

We stopped it this year, why wouldn't we be able to stop it next year?

good god I'm so glad valve won. farmville is just so.... blah. Plus valve had two of my favorite engines and quite possibly one of the best in terms of modding and replay value. I've beat HL2 probably 5-6 times and I still love playing it the game play is so much fun

I think we could do it again.

I have to say, despite the zynga hate, it was a REALLY fun march madness, mostly BECAUSE of Zynga's involvement. It's always better then there's a clear villain to overcome.

And casting my second vote on Twitter, I felt like I was doing a service to gaming as a whole.

Article made it sound like true gamers had swords in hands mowing down farmers.

I admit I was one of many who petitioned in chat rooms, and forums for votes, i know I was able to get +100 votes to Valve. Why? Principles dammit. No way in hell Zynga was gonna win.

God I think that'd be a fun flash game."MOW THE ZYNGA GAMERS DOWN!". ... May even put it on Facebook... (deadly cycle ensues).

Lol those farmers with plowshares were doing a pretty good job of mowing us down until we drew the line with a rusty crowbar.

I couldn't agree more.
Without Zynga, it probably would have been a boring one. I just didn't expect them to come that far.

They actually wrote an article on it? That is freaking sweet!

While he may have overdramatized it, I feel a sense of pride knowing that I was a part of that battle. It wasen't just a victory us and for Valve, it was a victory for all of those who came to offer their support and the idea that we may all have diffrent tastes, but we are all gamers and we will support the developer who deserved to win.

I took my own crowbar, smashed it into the ground and shouted "NONE SHALL PASS" all ominous-like

I wouldn't say it was overdramatized. In fact, I saw first hand more drama in that battle then that article contained
