It's on sale on Steam for £3.75, and I was interested in getting it, but I've heard that it works best with the unnoficial patches.

What I would like to know is if these patches work with steam, how I get them to work with steam, which patches I need to download, and if I also need the official patches aswell.

Thanks for any help.

I haven't played far enough in to hit the really problematic parts, but as far as I can tell the steam copy is bundled with the official patches (which are absolutely necessary, there's a bug in the unpatched game which makes it impossible to complete). As for unofficial patches, they should work fine as the folder structure within Steamapps should be reasonably intact. Just make sure that instead of installing to default directory you install to:

(wherever steam is located)/Steam/steamapps/common/vampire the masquerade - bloodlines

I've never played with unofficial patches. The game is by no means bad without them, if you discount the one gamebreaking bug which the steam version should have fixed.

Thanks. I ran into some problems starting it because I'm on Windows 7, but I eventualy got it going. Loving it so far :D

Picked it up last night myself.

Decided to use one of the unofficial patches, it seems to be fully compatible with steam, albeit a slight PitA to set up.

Playing in actual 16:9 was worth it.

I played it when it first came out. I never patched it, and it was buggy but playable. Honestly, if your even moderately interested the price is right. If you do run into problems, patch then.
