Sounds like a nice idea, but I'd like to point out one thing. In the movie Daybreakers (about vampires) there is a phrase used which applies greatly here:

"There will always be those willing to pay a little more for the real thing."

So what could we expect if this works? Mass produced low-grade meat for the masses, and just as many butchered animals to provide the real meat for those willing to pay greatly inflated prices for the actual product.

So the question becomes- are we willing to pay five times what we do for bacon in order to feed the poor? Probably yes, but you never know.

I will stick to my killed animal meat, unless they improve the texture and get a good amount of protein in it.

Although I guess it could feed millions who are starving etc.

So what you're saying is that if we throw down the African government,we save Africa?
Well, we are doing it to other countries already against terrorism, so I guess African countries would be next if we were to ever do it again...or find oil.

I can imagine if this gets on the market, ten year after, people will be going "I remember when we had REAL meat, not this, biological bulshit...mumble mumble..."

Then the only thing you have to deal with is hippy loser twats preaching about how 'Stem cells are the devil' etc etc.
Don't forget about the conservative-red-neck-douche who is more likely to call stem cell research the devil. Crystal-grabbing-hippie-liberals are more likely to call it a crime against nature and fucking with the environment.

Either way they should all be shot in favor for the handsome libertarians who would allow such things cloning or stem-cell research... also prostitution and assault rifles... and weed.

You mean heavy christian mothers and PETA.
Ugh... I hate PETA with a passion.

OT: I can't imagine it catching on in many countries, or at least not overtaking meat, but that isn't a bad thing (coming from a veggie). We rely on animal to maintain our countryside. It is only the intensity of the farming that causes environmental degradation (there are other issues such as methane, but that to would be reduced). Plus real meat could become more ethical as organic a free range would become more feasable as fewer animals would need to be farmed, plus they would act as our supply of stem cells/ cloning material. I'm now set in my view this would be a good thing to potentially fight starvation, and ethically alright.
