Its because the Internet is rated for over 13 year old, strangely enough under 13's tend not to lie about their age for the first several times of being questioned, after trial and error they wise up and become more devious, but still it takes them a while (partly because their brains are re wirring themselves while they are thinking how to solve an issue).

We are essentially teaching children how to circumvent rules, I'm not sure if I should be proud that they are "working the system" or angry that they are accessing materials that is beyond their age range.

I just do 2 scrolls down when it asks for my age. That usually puts it between 1980 and 1940.

The game is rated for a certain age group, no reason for anybody under that age to see previews for a game they technically shouldn't be playing.
Well in that case Yahtzee's review of Crysis should require an age verification thing

I want to know the point of these verify age things.
May I suggest reading the text on the page next time it pops up.

They're there because, in certain instances, we are required to put them there. If we aren't required to (for example, for the stuff we produce ourselves) we don't.

I know why its there, its just retarded that the trailer gets censored while a bunch of cursing and dick jokes are ok because you guys produced it. Man you gotta love this censorship stuff.

The kind of parents who would be calling lawyers about stuff like this are stupid enough to not realize that age verification is a joke.

It's just a way of saying "Hey, we took measures to prevent your kid from getting to this content, so it was your kid's own fault for lying about his age."
It's a way of covering your ass, so to speak.
