JRPGs (like everyone else it seems,) and hack-n-slash. Case in point: I used to love games like God of War and Ninja Gaiden Black. Now, I can't stand the mindless button-mashing. I'm also getting very tired of most modern military shooters.

The JRPG. It takes a very special one to hold my interest now. I can only think of five that I can still enjoy:

Chrono Trigger, the Fire Emblems for Gamecube and Wii, Tales of Symphonia, and Chrono Cross. And I've still yet to beat Chrono Cross.
This to a million.

The JRPG has, quite simply, grown stagnant along with the rest of their turn based brethren. Both in the plot, mechanics, and combat system department.

So far the higher examples of a well thought out combat system for a JRPG have been, imho, found in the Grandia series and it just fucking took a nap after that and stopped evolving. Hopefully someone can pick up the torch someday.
Beaten to the punch by the first two repliers. Dammit!

But yes, the JRPG I would say. Doesn't help there hasn't been a decent game - not that I've played many - in recent years, but when I was a teenager I probably would have loved Infinite Undiscovery and I loathe that game now more than it perhaps deserves. The amusing jiggle physics was all that kept me going - thank you Michelle!

Wrestling games, I used to love the Smackdown series and games like WCW No Mercy but my interest in the genre left when they went the Madden route as well as the actual shows becoming stale.

Shooter's are getting too stupid for me to care anymore. I'm growing back into platforming and into RPG's.

This isn't exactly a unique choice, but JRPGs. Growing up I played a couple JRPG games as that's all I had, but when I got into my teen years and started buying my own games I started playing games like Half-life. Once I got into those game I just could not find any Japanese game that would hold me attention. The only exception being the Pokemon games, as I still enjoy Pokemon Ruby from time to time.

Fighters for me as well. I don't know if I grew out of my teen angst, or if the series' that I loved just got dumber (Tekken) or faded away for too long (MK), but I just don't gravitate towards them like I used to.

One problem I see is with online play - I used to get together with friends and stomp each other in Tekken 2 or MK3, or go to the arcade to play Super Street Fighter II against people in the neighborhood... but now it's just a bunch of faceless online stat-whores who care nothing about a good fight or good sportsmanship and focus solely on their worldwide ranking.

Ah well, that's just an old man rant I guess.

Gaming in general. What with work, a girlfriend, mates, etc, I no longer have the time to play a lot of games....and considering a lot of games have started to suck recently, it's not a bad thing.

First Person Shooters: I used to play loads of Doom, Duke Nukem and Goldeneye back in the mid 90's, and admittedly I enjoyed the hell out of the origional Halo. But since then, the market is just so saturated with shooters these days, my interested just isn't there anymore. Besides if I have to work out any pent up anger, than I hit the gym.

Fighters: I was around during the whole Street Fighter Vs Mortal Kombat feud during the early/mid 90's. Used to spend hours in the arcade playing Virtua Fighter, Tekken and Killer Instinct. I played over 500 hours of the Dreamcast Versions of Soul Calibur, Power Stone, Dead or Alive 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3. But eventully got burned out by the mid Playstation 2 Era. Last fighter I actually bought was Virtua Fighter 5 for the Playstation 3.

JRPGs: As a teenager(again during the mid 90s), nothing would soak up my attention more than a RPG. I've beten Final Fantasy 4 and 6 more times than I can remember. I remember swaping Earthbound for EVO: the Search for Eden with my friend multiple times through the years. But as life moved on any had less and less free time, the slow paced nature of the turn based RPG just didn't fit into my hetic lifestyle.
