The music from Team Fortress 2 is fantastic. It doesn't play during actual gameplay, but, still.

.
And this should also account for all songs that came from it too... like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOdgCNeR-_w] :D

Anyway, favourite game soundtracks... that has to go to either The Elder Scrolls IV [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp7zRasP6EI], Kingdom Hearts [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw015KGBSKo&feature=related] specifically II, or NieR [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQUUUIuEGgQ].

Either of those works :3

I've been ninja'd by spartandude, with Morrowind and Skyrim. Gorgeous, we need more like it.

Jeremy Soule is a genius.
Yeah, Jeremy Soule is one of my favorites too. Did you hear his arrangement of Final Fantasy VI's Terra theme?

Or First Light, from Guild Wars. Pure, uncensored bliss in music form.

Legend of Zelda Twilight princess has some of the best video game music I've ever heard. One of my all time favourites from the game though is Midna's Theme. It is so haunting and mysterious, it's just amazing. I could listen to this song all day.

Also from the same game. Probably some of the best boss music ever.

this is a spoiler sort of so I'll just tag it to be on the safe side.

The best song comes from a mediocre game IMO

Well I don't agree with your assessment of the game, but I'm quite glad to see someone has posted this song on the first page. I've been getting tired of always having to come and post it. When will people learn.

All of the soundtrack of both Mass Effect games. Seriously, I challenge you to find me a song from either game that isn't amazing.

But Mass Effect songs are already well-represented. So:

The first time I landed on Tallon IV, I think this gave me chills.
This is sort of cheating, because it's the orchestrated version of an SNES-era tune. I don't care. It's too badass to leave out.

The Soviet March. It sounds more Soviet than, well, the Soviet anthem.
Hell March 2. The best version of the amazing Hell March.

And to show the filthy kepitalists some love:

I must confess, I didn't play Chrono Trigger until the 2009 DS re-release. It nonetheless left a huge impression on me; hearing its theme song sends shivers down my spine. And this would be incomplete without perhaps the best known of Trigger's many brilliant songs: Frog's Theme.

I can tell fomr your profile picture that you don't play many western games.
OT: Dragon age, mass effect, vampire the masquerade, earthbound, pokemon, XIII and brutal legend.
Quite the opposite, I play far too many Western games. I played Deus Ex upon its release and even like Fable III despite all its short comings. I just enjoy a lot of JP games as well, but in my realm of Top 10 favorite games? Metal Gear and God Hand are the only two JP games that appear and they were made by Westaboos.
uhh, huh. O.k then, do you have any musical training? because I do, and there are soooo many western games with musc that have a sense of personlality
I quit listening to him the moment he said "Westaboos". Ignore the troll. Speaking of good Western Music, the Gears of War and Killzone soundtracks are very good. Hell, the Killzone 2 soundtrack won gaming's first Ivor Novello music award.

I am ressurrecting this thread. More music doesn't hurt.

I am posting this one for the upcoming "Skullgirls" game. They got the Castelvania composer so you know it is good.
