So earlier this week I made a thread about anime characters [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.311313-Anime-Characters-Top-10#12619989] after being asked to for a survey.
So I've been mulling over a similar list for video game characters for a while. And I finally came up with this list. This one is a bit more...biased can I say....than the last, because I went with a lot more characters I just liked. (That and I've played waaaay too many games to narrow down a list of "Best Characters").
So here is what I came up with; 5 guys and 5 women.
Damion Baird - Gears of War
Ah, Baird. Aside from genius-level intellect, Baird is just a fun character. Bitchy, whiny Baird be paired with the perpetually happy Cole Train has got to be one the best buddy combos in gaming, and listening to Baird never gets old. After all, its a fucking party down in those sewers.
Haggard - BF: Bad Company
Ah Haggard. The guy with the torque and the shotgun. always there for the comic relief and a driving part of the game's story; I mean, who else would start and international incident with a foreign country by running over their border while wildly shooting a truck carry gold?
The Heavy - Team Fortress 2
REST OF TEAM IS TINY AND PUNY AND WEAK.
Sargent Johnson - Halo Series
Sargent Avery Johnson. The only constant other than Cortana for the Master Chief. Also, more man packed into him than 10 SPARTANS put together. Also, he is responsible for some of the best Easter Eggs in gaming yet.
Captain Anderson - Mass Effect Series
(Sad Effects added to lessen tragedy)
Captain Anderson is perhaps one of coolest people in the entire ME universe. Almost became the first Human Spectre, knows almost everything military backwards and forwards, and is one of the few people you can really count on in the ME universe.
Bayonetta - Bayonetta
Ah, Bayonetta. So many people call her a terrible female character, and that she is too "stereotypical". But thats why I love her; she takes all of that, tells the haters to go fuck themselves sideways and goes on to be in one of the most fun and interesting games this generation in addition to be really entertaining and fun to watch.
Sherufanir - Record of Agarest War
WARNING. May be slightly NSFW
Make of it what you will. She was a useful character in game, and I really, really liked her.
Ibuki - Street Fighter Series
Only the first 45 seconds are relevant.
I've always liked Ibuki in Street Fighter. She is fun to use in SSFIV (though not really that powerful) and her character is cute and fun to follow.
Cortana - Halo Series
Cortana. The lady behind the man. Cortana has been an integral part of every main Halo game so far. Though just an AI, Cortana has been one of the more interesting and fun characters since Halo started. And she's saved your ass in Halo more times than you'd care to count.
Lightning - Final Fantasy 13
Since I saw Lightning for the first time, I thought I'd like her. She is a good heroine, strong and interesting to watch.
Also, she puts up with Hope for an extended period of time without slitting his through. She is currently being in-processed for Sainthood due to this.
So how do think this list compares with my other one? Like it? Dislike it? Should I lock my doors for a while?
