does anyone except those stupid news reporters and people who just love stirring the pot think that violent games like GTA cause people to go murder people?
Why would they? Explain your answers.

I Think its because they think kids are impressionable and they enjoy these violent games so they might attepmt to copy these violent games.

I think it is very stupid, i dont thnk ive ever done something extremely violent on the ol playstation then went, "wow, that looks like fun, i might try that"...

I don't see any reason on why you would go out. You would have to be mentally unstable already to do Kill someone.

The only problem they cause would be obesity and social problems-Unless you go out and LAN or go in a group and talk about things.

Events like these.

I was also trying to find an old article where a man had gone on a rampage to see if it was like Grand Theft Auto.

Quoted for truth. Many of people including my grand-parents expect kids to act out what they see. But what about the 99% of us who aren't going to go on a murderous rampage just cos we did it in a game?

Should the gaming community be tarred with the brush of evil because of something some whackjob has done?

And I think the media lies about the games the kids play. It's just a lot of 13 year olds have GTA IV and Manhunt. Or is it the parents who buy these games for the kids fault and they use this to point out it's a violent game and should be banned.

I've confused myself now and lost my point.

Just blame the parents, IMO.

Because everything that is new or different causes violence. Like Metal!

Sure it happens, just not as bad as the news reports.

I remember playing Ninjas with my friends as a kid because I played Tenchu 2 (it was the demo version, so there wasn't any gore) and it looked like fun. I remember me and my friend sneaking around after playing MGS, and I remember having mock fights with special powers after play Tekken.

I think its just what kids do, adding to what Mr Dragon of Red said - Kids ARE impressionable, they pick up things and copy it.

Its not just videogames though, movies and TV are the same. Which is why there is a rating system.

I learned that when your a mute, bad things happen to you.

There is a small percentage of people (less than 1% of the world) who are actually mentally affected by video game violence. They generally already have some psychological problems. Why should this cause games to be ruined by over protective fuckwits for the other 99% of the world who are normal fucking people?

Because they ae closed minded and opinionated. Also because videogames are the newest form of media and entertainment right now so they are going to be sustible to the harshest scrutiny. The funniest part about these people is that they have probably never even played any of these games they attack.

This is what I call weak willed individuals. I have the memories of countless violent games, movies and music and I have yet to murder, maim, or harm another individual based on what I have seen in my life. Weak willed individuals, what do ya do?

The more idiotic part about all of this is that video games or music are what get blamed in this act, forget all of the bullshit TV and movies people watch... nope only the games do this shit.

OH boy, how do video games wreck the youth? the answer, my good forum acolytes, is simply two words... Jack Thompson... need I say more? If not for these politicians and... Jack Thompson... games wouldn't have near as bad a rep as they do .

Because society needs a scapegoat for its problems. And no one wants to take responsability.

Gaming is the latest scapegoat, my friend. It's not so much that people actually believe it as it is they need something to blame. Dungeons and Dragons, Rap/Metal music, video games... It's all the same deal. If they really believed these things could conjure demons, or drive a kid to shoot up his school, these "outraged" parents would be doing a hell of a lot more than complaining.

Did anyone ever think that maybe it's not the games, but the people buying them?

Even if games were a source (Which is highly unlikely) it would be upon the parents to check the games content. Those who are old enough to get there hands on such games should be responsible for their own actions. You'd have to be mentally unstable to think that you should emulate games, if you are mentally unfit in such a way you shouldn't be unattended anyways, making one wonder how they obtained such an item.

I blame not games, but the people buying them.

Almost as bad as the mother who blamed her sons suicide on Dungeons and Dragons. She said something along the lines that playing the demonic game caused her son to go into the closet and hang himself. She did not take in consideration of the harassment he was receiving at school (being bullied) and his lack of motivation due to his poor efforts of failing grade, or the parents recent divorce! Video Games is just the 'new thing' to blame because parents don't want to feel like they FAILED at raising their kid up right. And to the spokesmen for Joe Lieberman; who I know are reading this because they will do anything to put more restrictions on game (damn you ESRB), is the senator so bored of political issues that he must attack one of the biggest past times dating from the 70's when Pac-Man was the 'big thing'.

Parents listen to me, if you are going to blame someone for raping, or school shootings, or even suicide; blame yourselves. You should be in your child's life and explain that 'those thing' are wrong. Which they are. And if you are to self centered, up their on your high horse trying to have this poor excuse of a God Complex, thinking that everything you do in NOT wrong; fine, blame your child. Your child is the one who shot his students. Your child is the one who committed suicide. YOUR CHILD is the one who made those decisions and not the companies like Rockstar or Cap-com.

People please stop blaming others and take responsibility for what you could have prevented.

I play World of Warcraft, almost religiously now, and I NEVER went out with a sword and crossbow to slay people so I can get some gold.
I play Grand Theft Auto, every day, and I NEVER went to steal a car and run over people, pick up whores and shot them to get my money back.

People who do that stuff are one of two things. Delusional, and don't know what they are doing is wrong (a self mental problem). Or; Were never taught right from wrong (your fault parents/guardians and teachers).

Please stop blaming video games and the video game companies.

I don't know if my reaction to this forum is accurate, but it is how I feel every time this topic of the "Dark Side of Gaming" comes up.

So, it's the one or two (out to millions) that ruin it?
