If you look around on this website a fair chunk of the threads and posts are about gaming as "art". While I agree what when done very well games can be considered art, a couple people in this website seem to take the "games are art" thing a little too far and forget that games are...well games. Some people ask "are games really games" and some people say that games that don't seamlessly combine storytelling and gameplay aren't real games, heck one guy said that chainsaw lollypop shouldn't be released because it would destroy the progress that gaming had made. While I like a game that CAN do that, not all good games have too. Look at pong, it isn't symbolic of two eternal rivals bouncing back the orb of conflict with neither of them being allowed to rest until their foe is defeated, it's a dumbed down one on one version of soccer, with no story to be told of. Not all people play games for rich story, sometimes people play video games because they just want to kill simulated enemies.
Bottom line line, have we gone a little too far in trying to get games recognized as art?
