I was over at my great uncle's house when I was 3 or 4 watching Aladdin (the cartoon show) and my great uncle was telling me about this game called Mortal Kombat II and how it had this level with talking tree and a movie star who wears sunglasses and I was sitting there confused out of my mind thinking he was talking about Rock'em Sock'em Robots or something. Then he got a SNES and the game and plugged it in and everything then BAM! I spent the next few hours playing Mortal Kombat II.

Then I played Donkey Kong Country.

In 1993, when I was three, my dad brought home a Nintedo with Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt and Bomberman. I'd play Duck Hunt by holding the zapper right at the TV (literally touching it) and well... I was good at it.
About a year after, we got a Sega Genesis with a large amount of games and we would buy one about every other week (we even had Where's Waldo...).
And after that it went on to N64, PS1, GameCube, Xbox, Xbox 360, Dreamcast, PS1, GameCube.

Nes - Top Gun. Played the hell out of the game until I could land that Jet on the aircraft carrier and then to beat the game. I accomplished that and have been playing ever since.

THe downstairs neighbor kid invited me to play Golden Eye on the N64. I had no clue what I was doing but I enjoyed it. :D

Wow! I feel old when I read these replies and see people start on the N64,PS1 etc. Anyways, my first memory must be Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the C64... Running through hurdles and jumping the rest of the way.

Its alittle fizzy, but I remember my first gaming experience was with one of those casette tape loading machines...

[small]Once kids, this was once what computers looked like.[/small]

...(can't remember which one) on a forward scrolling R-Type style game (before R-Type came out).

However, I only started gaming as a major hobby when the NES and GameBoy entered the house (sometime around 1991 I think we got ours). Aaah, old Mario. Back before games had saves. Yeah, thats one thing that has definitely got better over time - I don't have to sit constantly for 3 hours to complete a game because the thing will forget as soon as it switches off.

Same here man, although mine was a proto-R-Type game and a Batman platformer.

EDIT: also, see my post at the bottom of the previous page.

My first experience was the sega master system, (can remember the year) and playing sonic which was built into the system. Wasn't able to save the game, so once you were near the end of the game and you died, you had start all over again.

I started playing videogames when my dad got me a purple game boy advance for what I think was my 5th birthday. He isn't a gamer so the only game he got me was a Wild thornberrys (an animated cartoon show)one. However I still appreciate it because it was the gift that got me into gaming. My first console and the first system I asked for was an Xbox, which I got for christmas at age 8.

actually one of my earliest memories. family holiday at age 2. living in a caravan for a week while they refurbished the house we were moving into. (little brother was on the way and the current flat was too small) There was an arcade at the bottom of the road my dad took me to, to play mike tysons punch out. (yeah, while i was 2!)
my dad, at the time, was a repairman for arcade games which has led to me owning several actual arcade games but from that point at age 2, i was hooked for life.
