As clichéd as it is on this site, Portal. It is probably the only game I've ever played that lived up to the hype 110%.

Portal of course....jk, I've never played portal. :p

I'd have to say I can't criticize Super Smash Bros. But thats probably the nostalgia talking.

Do you really need to ask or do I need to have a giant arrow pointing at my avatar?

Portal.
It does have a flaw; it ended.

But honestly, every game has at least one flaw, if you're unable to see it you're not trying hard enough.

Not that it has no flaws, but after seeing the third(?) ending of Drakengard I swore that I wouldn't criticize it until I'd found the final ending. That was several years ago, and the game was a rental...

Though after seeing burntheartist's avatar, I suddenly have an idea for a real answer...

It's of my personal opinion that this is as close to gaming perfection as we've gotten. Likeable characters, great voicework, an interesting storyline with unexpected twists, a genuinely fun battle system and one of the deepest fusion systems in a game to date. The only thing that you can really complain about is the hour and a half before you really start getting into Social Links, dungeon crawling and fusing but that's about it.
I LOVED Persona 3 and the second Persona 3 released (I forget what the official title was). How does Persona 4 compare? Is the gameplay a lot like Persona 3's?

Portal
Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (well, besides needing game boy advances and the setup to do multiplayer, but that's not really one to count)
Tetris
Pong
Joust
Half Life 2: Episode One

I can't think of all of them ofcourse, but those off the top of my head...

Chrono Trigger. It just doesn't compete with anything else, it just exists in a realm of its own for eternity. Other games visit briefly, sometimes even for a stay-of-replaying vacation, but there's only enough living space for one.

For me, anyway. I don't expect it to be like that for everyone, or for every last gamer to have a specific game tattooed on the inside of their heart. Er...figuratively speaking.

im definitely going to agree with tetris, but mostly in reference to Tetris DS, the best iteration of the game so far

Halo 3 because I can't think of any part of that game that I didn't love. I used to be crazy addicted to multiplayer and making forge maps, and I like the campaign misssions so much that I go back to play they occasionally. I also love Bungie for maintaining an overall great community and commitment to their games. I know I'm probably in the slim minority on this site so please have mercy on my post.

Its an old game so the graphics weren't the best, but that's just something that happens with time. It was my favorite game back in the day.

And Firepower 2000 for the SNES was a great game. It was hard, but I wasn't as familiar with a controller as I am now so thats more my fault than the game's.

Or I probably just wasn't as critical when I was younger.

Thief

Super Mario Galaxy

Unreal Tournament and Quake

Seriously there's NOTHING at all wrong with these games, I can't come up with anything!
