Mirror's Edge, I just couldn't get the hang of the controls, especially trying walk on the thin narrow beams. And when I started getting shot at, well, any semblance of being able to play went right out the window.

Hue City on Veteran. GOD DAMN IT! Stop respawning before I can move up! You're the Viet-Cong, there aren't that many of you!
I actually thought that level was ok compared the utter nightmare before it (Khe Sahn)

Most games I give up on are solely because I find them too boring. If we're talking difficulty though, It's mostly my Genesis collection. Once I landed myself on the PSX bandwagon, I played for the challenge. Too hard? I can get it.

That being said, Ecco the dolphin, Streets of Rage 2 (Until I got a co-op buddy on emulators) Battletoads by far, and if we're talking more recent, Saints Row 2 for the mission where your on a skidoo and there's a helicopter.

*Checks Steam Library* Yep, I only uninstalled these games because I was bored with the game play. Not because of difficulty.

What would you consider "Difficulty" for amnesia the dark decent? I think I'm not going to touch that one anymore either.

Actually that's what I meant, but I couldn't remember the name. Thanks for correcting me.

And yeah that was a mess. Not even during the Tet Offensive did the Viet-Kong have that many people.

Grand Theft Auto 4 i actually DID quit due to difficulty, because of the GOD DAMN FIRST STREET RACE AND THE GOD DAMN HORRIBLE DRIVING CONTROLS!
The races in GTA4 were far easier than the ones in San Andreas... I nearly gave myself a hernia trying to finish that game.

The trick in GTA4 is to take your time. I know it sounds counter-intuitive but the other drivers drive pretty slow and as long as you get in the lead, then drive carefully, letting go of the accelerator before you hit those corners and tapping the handbrake button, you should usually win each race comfortably.

Mass effect is TOO easy
Mass Effect was a cover-based shooter that didn't have any cover. I got sick of it's lackluster combat pretty quickly (due to dying so much).
I just bought this and I'm beyond tempted to just jump into ME2

on that steam sale... DAMN YOU STEAM!

OT: Mass Effect is getting there, also Dragon Age, and then The Last Remnant. I love me some good RPG, but honestly (less so with DA:O and ME) when the objective of the game isn't clear, and in ME when you die because theres no cover around, it gets frustrating.

oh, and just a general gripe about ME: the fucking equipment system pisses me off, I feel like I am supposed to have upgraded everyone but I havent found any armor for anyone yet :/

Treyarch really dropped the ball on that level.

The signposting was fail-tacular, no-one ever told you to kick the stupid barrels. I was there for a half hour shooting them, running around them, trying to run oast the level, it was the only time I have EVER had to look to the internet to get past a level in a linear shooter.

I'm surprised something so broken made it into a massive, expensive game like Black Ops.

NONE! Though Shadow of the Colossus infuriated me on a few different occasions(damn misleading light beams) and I had to stop that session to keep from breaking something, I eventually beat the game.

Yeah, it's not too bad once you know what you're doing. Just remember not to keep holding accelerate all the time.

I just can't play GTA4 anymore anyway, the lack of mission checkpoints drove me too crazy to go back and finish it again (at least they fixed that feature in the DLCs though)

oh yes. the lack of checkpoints is also annoying me, but most recently it was the street races. right after i failed the race and brucie drove off i shanked the nearest person i could find.

afterwards, i went on to play Fallout 3 (which i still haven't finished after 100 hours of playtime :p)

Lol... Fallout 3 beats GTA4 for free roaming any day :) (400 hours and still enjoying it)

Demons's's's's Souls and every Final Fantasy game ever. You always eventually get to an almost impossible boss you have to grind for hours before you can beat it. And they can fuck right off.

this guy gets it *fist bump*
once i'm done with that, i'll go back to the Row to snipe some elderly people in the suburbs atop a church while in my underwhere.

when i'm bored of that, there's always my alternate Saint's Row character "The Sexy Slasher of the Saints" on my cheat file (GOD more games need fun cheats like low gravity!)

Silent Hill.

Don't look at me like that, it freaked me the F___ out, and I couldn't figure out where to go in the first 3 hours of gameplay...

Ninja Gaiden 2. I made it to the last boss, but spent my money on stupid shit, so I could never beat it. I saved, so I was stuck with no heal items and I had to kill 3 bosses. I've yet to beat it, I doubt I'll ever try again.
The same thing almost happened to me!

I was toward the end and didn't have any heal items. It was endless torture of trying to get past the level without dying! I did manage to get a healing item and beat the boss! Still cannot believe I did it. o_O It was endless restart after restart from dying, but I did it! :D
