Nire - I had heard so much mixed review about this game that I didn't know if I should buy it or not but I bought it and I am so glad I did, even if the story is a bit weak but the gameplay and my god the music is fantastic and makes up for the weak story.
If you're talking about Nier then you confuse me because it probably has one of the best stories out of any console game just for having one of the greatest plot twist in any game and for the twist being done so well. Also, with the funny dialogue even if some of the character development I guess is a bit weak, the overall story is awesome.

(Did you play the second half of the game again after beating Nier the first time? If not, you may not be able to see why the story is so great.)
Sorry I will correct my self (was really tired when I typed this), I was a bit annoyed that you have to replay it two/tree time to get the Best/worst ending.

Hope it clears thing up now.

Batman Arkham Asylume. Now i know that sounds strange considering how well the game has done but keep in mind that up to that point the gaming industry had yet to make a good batman game. Their were a couple of alright ones but most were total crap. So you can understand my train of thought going into the game. However it took less than 10 mins of playing to realize that Arkham Asylume was a good game and about a half hour to realize that it was straight up gold.

Mass Effect; I usually hate sci-fi and I'm a massive fan of medieval fantasy. I thought I'd try it because I liked Dragon Age, but I wasn't really expecting to enjoy it, but enjoy it I did!
Pretty much exactly this I'm definately not a Sci fi fan but something about Joker flying the Normandy catches my interest.

The only occasion I remember where this happened to me was a few months ago, with Crysis 2. The very first trailers put me off, and I sighed with frustration at the prospect of yet another grey-brown urban warfare shooter; and then I played the game and I was blown away by how good it was.

Darksiders. I hadn't heard good things about it, and I don't like hack and slash that much, but it was a fun game.

Saint's Row 2.

Seemed like it'd just be a GTA knock-off. It was a GTA knock-off, but that didn't mean it wasn't also incredibly fun, much more so than GTA IV.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. I thought I was going to hate it because of Tom Clancy and Patriotism and all that stuff, but I give that game a 10/10.

For me it's got to be Mass Effect. After seeing all the praise people were showering on it, and after the second one came out and received similar treatment, I decided to pick it up. I haven't looked back since. It was a similar story with Minecraft.
