When we were young and gullible, we would often hear of our friends boasting about how they know how to play as Luigi in Super Mario 64, or some other 'secret' that turned out to be utter bullcrap. What videogame myths do you know about?
Here's one I learned about recently: the Tails-doll myth. This myth originated from Sonic R, the horrible racing game with the even more terrible music (Can you feel the sunshine?). The Tails-doll was an unlockable character who basically acted as a smaller version of Tails. However, many Sonic fans would tell you to leave that character locked. It was once believed (and still is, in small subsets of the Internet) that this character would put a curse on you, doing such things as messing with the game music (which is more of a blessing than a curse), to killing you in real life. The only 'curse' brought on by the character is that the framerate of the game take a dip when you're using him. How that managed to grow into a concept that I'm surprised hasn't become a horror movie yet is beyond me.
