Pretty much my thoughts exactly. It's too easy and simple to just scream that games don't need photorealism. Of course they don't and to suggest they do is just silly. There are, however, many games and genres that would benefit from being photorealistic as they already make a play towards a realistic appearance. In truth, no one is saying that "Durrr, Psychonauts should be photorealistic!" but what about something like a survival horror title or the next LA Noire style crime fiction game? Or maybe the next Spec Ops title?
